found a beauty June 25, 2005, 02:38:04 AM Hey guys and gals its been awhile since I posted anything. I ran across a perfect replacement for my 87 Tbird. If anyone remembers from way back when I first started coming here I killed my other with a tree. Well not exactly killed just relocated half the car.Anyway check this out. A chick I know bought a car a while back. It's an 87 Tbird like mine. The car is the nifty two tone brown color that ford made for that year. The cool part is its got the electric moonroof in it, buckets and the console, only bad thing is the driver side is the only powered one, not both like I'd like to have but still one is good enough for now. Its got power mirrors and windows and locks of course. The plain cloth interior which is in near mint condition. I mean this car looks like its only a few years old inside. Appearently the people didnt smoke or have kids or do much of anything in this car but cruise. The history of the car as far back as I know is a guy bought it from an auction for real cheap. it had the motor blown in it. He had it replaced with the 3.8l, which I put in the car myself for the guy. the car ran for like a week and then he parked it. He let some guy borrow it and the left rear tail light lens got taken or fell off one of the two the only thing left is the reflectors, no big deal my Tbird has perfect lights in the back of it, easy fix. Anyway as the story goes I was going to buy it from the guy and this chick who happens to be my ex bought the car before I could. Which totally sucked. Mainly because the woman has no liscense or need for a car. I was pissed about it . anyway she parked the car in front of the house so I could see it every time I went to visit the kids and stuff. kinda of like rubbing salt in a wound.at some point the freeze plug in the driver side head came out. Im hoping its just the case where I can put a plug in and it fix it. I found they make expansion plugs for fixing that so I wont have to take it apart to find out if thats all thats wrong.I finally talked her into selling it to me since she is moving and doesnt have room to park it at her place.I took a walk around the car last weekend looking at it. the car is dent free, not even a hail dent from what I could see. the car has never been in an accident of any kind from the looks of it. the only thing wrong with the exterior of the car is a small size spot of rust in front of the front passenger tire. maybe the size of a baseball at most which appears to be surface rust only. the driver side fender has a spot on top of it where the clear coat peeled off at some time and the paint under was exposed which is now discolored. the spot might be 2 feet long at the most and only on the top portion of the color pattern which could only be at most a foot wide.not a big spot at all really. oh I also forgot the car has the electric antenna on it to. all of the electric options on it work perfect. I swear if I didnt know any better there is no way this car could be as old as it is . the back end of the car still sits where it was at when made the springs havent sagged at all. and best of all the price she finally settled on. I cant believe I found an 87 in great condition for 200 bucks. :D tell me if yall think Im getting a good deal. Quote Selected

found a beauty Reply #6 – February 08, 2006, 03:32:32 PM ok after about 7 months I finally got it going. I found out that the engine was shot in it. it had a nifty problem with dumping antifreeze into the cylinder. possibly just a head gasket. anyway as requested I have some pics of it although the camera was kind of py. I noticed a few other things wrong with it after I had it but nothing serious. heres the side view of it .heres another thing I found wrong with it the bumper cover has a split at the time someone had covered it with black duct tape so it didnt show up right away.you can see it on the passenger sideand heres the spot on the fender that the clear coat rubbed through on. you can see how the top of it is alot lighter then the hood as well as the header panel rubbing through now all in all its still looking pretty good for as old as it is. found a beauty Reply #8 – February 09, 2006, 09:19:20 AM yeah paint is pretty easy the only bad part is theres a little hail damage to it from sitting in the yard at the house it was at as well as a few other minor dents.nothing bigger then possibly a quarter size ding. we found the paint scheme for it already. we're thinking about going with an anodized blue type color maybe a shade darker with metal flakes in it from the molding up. from the molding down we're going with a black not sure if satin black or gloss yet. Not sure I want to go to all the trouble to make the blue shine like that and then put a satin or flat color at the bottom. Id have to see the difference before I painted the entire car. and was also thinking about changing the color of the chrome stripe in the molding to the same blue color to match the upper color. what do you all think? sound like a nice mix? found a beauty Reply #11 – February 09, 2006, 12:28:57 PM Blue with Black? I suppose it would look good if it was done right. I'd stay away from flat or satin black. It would probably be too much work to keep it looking right. A good gloss black would work well. How about painting the car blue down to the factory pinstripe? Then you could paint it black from the stripe down and separate the two colors with a thin silver stripe. That would help ease the transition between the two colors. Kind of like your factory two tone. Just throwing something out there. Quote Selected
