1984 tbird fuel pump plug question July 18, 2013, 11:31:59 PM I pulled the tank and wiring from a 1984 Tbird (v6). I am wanting to use just the intank low pressure fuel pump, cause I am using carb on motor not efi. I have no computer or anything, so I am going to use a switch and relay for fuel pump, anyone know which wires I can hook up for that with this plug? Quote Selected

1984 tbird fuel pump plug question Reply #4 – September 20, 2013, 08:03:19 AM I am at the plug in the passenger side kick panel now, there is three wire on the plug that goes back to the fuel pump relay and pumps, i do not have a computer in the car any more, I want to run a switch for my fuel pump, can anyone tell me what the three wire are for? I am sure one is to get 12v back to the relay, but the two smaller wire I am not sure of. Quote Selected
1984 tbird fuel pump plug question Reply #5 – September 21, 2013, 01:09:48 PM Just chassis ground the fuel pump ground wire at the plug. Mount the fuel pump relay (something like a Bosch 30A relay) between the rear bumper and the fuel tank. Ground the relay and the fuel pump to the chassis at the same point. Run a fused (20 amp would be just a guess) 10 or 12 gauge battery hot to the relay, same gauge wire from the relay to the fuel pump 12V+, and then a 12V+ trigger wire from a toggle switch or a source that is hot during crank and run off the ignition switch. The relay 12V+ trigger wire will only pull about 300 milliamp so it's not a huge draw. I can knock out a wiring diagram and send it to you if that would help.Did the wiring diagrams I sent you not help with the wiring on the car?Darren Quote Selected
1984 tbird fuel pump plug question Reply #6 – September 21, 2013, 03:28:13 PM yes the wiring on the car help, I am going to keep the factory relay and interia switch in place, from what i look at on the diagram, i can put a fused 12v hot to the yellow wire, and 12v key to the other wire on plug (forgot color) and should work. i will let you know how it turns out Monday. Fuel pump power.A red wire. Fuel pump relay power.A tan/green dot wire. Ground for the relay. Quote Selected
