91 5.0 July 13, 2013, 02:55:10 AM What can you guys tell me about a 91 5.0? I'm assuming that it is out of a ltd based on the pulley/accessory setup on it (alt and ps on drivers side, ac on passenger side on separate belt)It has e7 heads swapped onto it and i know it's a roller motor. i guess my main question is what pistons should this engine have? 91 5.0 Reply #1 – July 13, 2013, 09:04:58 AM If it's from a Crown Vic, it should have flat top pistons. As flat as Kansas. Quote Selected
91 5.0 Reply #2 – July 13, 2013, 11:19:40 AM Vinnie,Are there no valve reliefs on those like the old 85/86 Mustang 5.0 motors and are the pistons hypereutectic or forged? I seriously don't know is why I am asking.Darren Quote Selected
91 5.0 Reply #4 – July 13, 2013, 11:27:32 AM Right. Same engine. No valve reliefs, flat top pistons. lo-po. If it's in good shape, toss in an H.O cam and better intake and run it. Pistons are not forged. Quote Selected

91 5.0 Reply #6 – July 14, 2013, 07:07:29 AM unless.......you have a 91 Cougar/ Tbird 5.0 HO motor? They have a different pulley setup than the fox body and have E7 heads already installed. Quote Selected
91 5.0 Reply #7 – July 15, 2013, 12:31:01 AM I really don't know what it came out of. I'm buying it from a friend of a friend for $100. supposedly ran good 3 years ago but been in storage for 3 years. Comes with alternator, p/s pump, pulleys, belt, vacuum advance dizzy, new intake/exhaust/oilpan gaskets, has new head gaskets, a 2 barrel intake, and a edelbrock 4 barrel (obviously not bolted on) Quote Selected
91 5.0 Reply #8 – July 16, 2013, 11:28:08 PM picked it up tonight. Gotta get a 5.0 bellhousing, clutch kit, mustang clutch pedals, cable, and flywheel and I'll be ready to start putting the car together. Going to pick up a timing cover gasket set and throw a HO cam in it. Wish I could find a B cam so I would have the same setup that was in my old Sport, but the HO will be ok for now (especially since I already have 3 or 4 of them...) Quote Selected
91 5.0 Reply #9 – July 17, 2013, 08:27:23 PM been working on tearing it down. so far, so good. everything has come apart cleanly. Even the water pump bolts came out clean, no signs of corrosion whatsoever. Quote Selected
