engine cranks

is what i am hearing true.

i am hearing from the owner at NAPA in my town that "you shouldnt trust some of the remanufactured cranks because they just arent coming in correct".

Napa told me that he has had to re-order 50% of them over the past couple years because they are just too far out of spec.

so speaking to a basic rebuild,, where does one get a decent crank anymore that you can trust to be correct out of the box?

Jay over the years we have found that crank grinders always grind for higher side of clearances.Another words they grind on the loose side of clearances. This is because they do not want clearance issues on diferent line bore or rod situations. Remember you can adjust clearances with resizing the line bore or the rod big end. One size does not fit all. Normally if a crank is available we do not use reground units if we can help it. But we have had good cranks come from Advanced Auto with no issues to speak of. Those cranks are a tad loose but not crazy.
