28oz HB and 50oz FW

I was checking casting numbers today to find the year my 351w is.  The Harmonic Balancer is showing a 28oz (3bolt).  The flywheel is had on there to run the 94 T-5 had numbers RF-E1ZR6380-A2A, from what I have found is a 50oz flywheel, my question is how much damage could have been caused running like this, I have not pulled a main bearing yet for inspection, but the cylinders still have some good cross hash marks.

When I ran the 289 in my bird I had a 50oz flywheel rebalanced to 28oz, is it possible this was done?  I tried to run the 50oz flywheel that came with the used trans, after about 30 seconds I could tell it was not going to work, pulled it back out and sent it to the machine shop.

I wonder if someone mislabeled a 5.0 flywheel for a 5.8 . external dimensions should be identical.

how loose is the bottom end of the motor?

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

I can't believe someone would run a car that way for very long, IIRC (it was almost 20 years ago) the vibration started to get really noticeable at 2000 rpm and just got worse from there. Like I stated above, I put it together, started it, knew it wasn't good, shut it down and tore it back apart.

bottom end seems to be fine, he pulled the 5 speed from a 94 mustang and put onto the 351w, while he had it in a ford ranger.

I just got a hold of the guy who had the motor, he does remember some vibration not much, (thought it was cause of the cut down drive shaft).  He drove it like that for about 3000 miles and then parked the truck.  Got a newer one and one with A/C.  He just put in new bearings, just had the crank polished, new rings.
