Fool Me once!!!

Well friday i wanted to close early and we did. But as usual a stray customer drove in with an issue. So the man asked me if i was Renzo  yes i am. With that he explained to me that his ABS light was on and not working. I said leave the truck and i will find what is wrong on tuesday. No he explained he needed the truck this long weekend. Well once again i got stuck with an issue just before a long weekend.  With that i scanned the system and came up with a PUMP MOTOR MALFUNCTION CODE. So with that i disconnected the pump motors connector and ran the pump motor with my jumper box. What the heck it RAN PERFECTLY. With that i looked at the unit and it had a brand new controller installed. So i called the customer and asked him if it was changed. He said yes at another shop. ((((WHAT)))) the pump motor ran and the controller was brand new??? That meant something in the wiring was messed up. With that i dug in to the feed circuits of the pump motor and all was good. But that ABS light was staring me in the FACE once again. WITH THAT EVERYONE IN THE SHOP LEFT EARLY AS PROMISED AND HERE I WAS STARING AT AN ABS LIGHT!!! Now with an ABS light on this vehicle can not be driven. With that my cell phone was ringing and the wife bugging me to come home. So i locked up and went to the store shopping for groceries that the BOSS asked me to get. (MY WIFE AND KIDS) for the long weekend of leisure. Waiting at the register my neighbors kid was home from college and was running the register. She said how is things going Tom you look pre occupied !!! I said i am thinking about a trouble in the shop. With that i had a brain storm and told her to check me out and i would be right back to pay her and pick up the groceries !!! I sped back to the shop and removed the pump motor from the controller. Sure enough the motor was grounded to the case . With that i took a motor from a controller i had laying around the shop and installed it in the truck. BAM LIGHT WAS OUT> Drove it around the block and the fix was confirmed.

Here we go a grounded case to the body of the motor  set the ABS LIGHT. Even though the motor ran with the jumper box. That fooled me. And was a first!!!

Called the customer to pick up the truck and he did and was so happy as i was. I drove home thinking about this trouble and went in the house. My wife asked me where the groceries were. OOPS i forgot to pick them up. Headed out and got the groceries and all is GOOD IN THE WORLD OF ABS TROUBLES. have a great holiday weekend guys!!!

i take it that this is a two wire connector...?

you had reisistance between the - wire on the connector and the motor housing.

probably crud or something bridging the gap.

120vAC from the case to the - wire may fix that  LOL
