For the life of me I can't seem to find "jcassity's" list of information! I am trying to read the axle information tag and I cannot find the correct codes. I would appreciate it if someone could help me.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

Perfect! Yep, it's a limited slip with 3.45 gears from a turbo coupe. That's what I paid for. Thanks!

Right now all I have in my possession is a set of factory Ford Mustang shorty's and this rear axle then I can start working on the interior. Being my car has an AOD transmission I doubt that I will have much wheel hop. I am seriously considering Aerocoupe's suggestion to buy a set of CHE control arms for this axle. I still need to find out who sells the horizontal shocks. Thanks!

I think local parts stores carry, or can bring in, the quad shocks. 4-5 years ago I picked up some from Autozone. I think they were Monroes or Gabriels.

Looks like they are easily available. I'm going outside to start getting this axle cleaned up for installation. I can't wait to see what a difference it will be from my stock 2.73 gear axle to this limited slip 3.45 gear quad shock axle will be like! Thanks!

My poor car hasn't had a good cleaning in about a year when I started this project, cool thing is the engine compartment is cleaner than the rest of the car for a change. My new rebuilt "87" Mustang HO engine has about 200 miles on it now. I had the front end aligned along with rotation and balance today. I took off most of the garbage off the axle, so now it's about ready to clean up and paint. I'm trying to figure out which "CHE" package I should buy for this axle. I like having the option of being able to raise and lower the rear end. I bought the stiffest springs I could find (cargo on rear) so that I could cut 1/2 - 1 coil off to lower my car, then put 225/(50 or 55)/16 tires on it. An suggestions are appreciated!  Thanks!

Just a point!!!

Pull the cover count the teeth and devide. This will accomplish 5 things

1 The rear ratio
2 If it has POSI
3 Change the cruddy oil and gasket and flush out all the particles. There is always some
4 Measure the ring gear for size. Should be a 7.5 and 3.45 ratio by the tag
5 Check the unit for wear and back lash

A 10 dollar gasket is all that is needed with a couple QUARTS of 75-140
Win Win Situation and problem solved !!!

Tom,
That's the fun part of cleaning, I get to open it up. I also take a can of brake cleaner and clean it out. I've noticed that the new gear oil is synthetic now and like you said 75-140w not just 90w.I did notice some oil dripping from the front of the pumpkin yesterday (where the u joint connects). Is there a seal there that will need to be replaced? Thanks for your help!
