Troll Reply #30 – March 28, 2013, 07:23:42 AM Well, now I see that you've "taken your ball and gone home" and have gone back and deleted a bunch of your old posts, Tom. Obviously you were fine with folks raining praise on you, but can't deal with anyone that offers a differing opinion than what you think it should be.Oh well. It is what it is. Quote Selected

Troll Reply #34 – March 28, 2013, 12:49:24 PM I know that when I came to this forum to ask for help, Tom was one of the first to step up to help me. As anybody could tell, my knowledge of my 1986 Cougar was very limited. I as well do not like to see where anyone should pick one person out and stone him, but Tom has a tendency to start a new thread with his head on the block. I always got the feeling that Tom was very passionate about his job and his love for cars and this sometimes may have dictated his behavior (something I am also guilty of). I started reading about flylear45's turbo last night and I just couldn't stop reading! If I ever tried such a venture, I might as well save myself a lot of work and headaches and put a rag in the tank, light it and save myself the time. The knowledge on this forum is awesome! What really amazes me is that several guys here are walking it though with him and seem to understand everything from the turbo to paint in detail. When I was asking questions about my car it was like pre-school in comparison. Some even came close to saying I was retarded (lol). Others would chime in and offer help. I've taken a lot of Tom's advice and I've taken many others as well. I know there are a few young men on this forum that know a lot more about cars than I do and can turn a wrench faster than me, but then I know that and if ever one of them offered to help me, I know enough to step back and let them. All I can say is with all the beatings I've received on this forum, they were worth the knowledge I have gained. So, if you must take your bat out and beat me with it, at least maybe you will be too busy to bother the new kid next to me. All kidding aside, I would hate to see anyone with years of knowledge get up and walk away. At the same time I feel some respect for one another is in order. Thanks! Quote Selected
Troll Reply #35 – March 28, 2013, 02:22:17 PM There's been a few guys on this forum I've wanted to punch in the face at one time or another, Tom has taken his turn, but to single him out as the resident troll is somewhat unfair. Tom has exhibited troll-like tendencies, but has added to the board at least as much as he has detracted from it. Having said that, Tom Renzo has no diplomacy skills whatsoever. This may serve him well in the shop he runs, where he is the boss; but on the forum where he's a resource, it can be a hindrance, particularly where he meets resistance from people who don't answer to him. It's hard to not be the boss for some people. Case in point, a certain V8 swap thread we've probably all read. In this instance Tom had an amazing wealth of knowledge to lend and good advice, but it wasn't the knowledge and advice that the OP was looking for. Tom had a hard time accepting that OP's goals for the car weren't in line with what his own would have been, and this is because Tom is in charge in his corner of the world. At the end of the day, I would rather have Tom around just as he is, than not have him here at all. Quote Selected

This has caused the loss of many good members. One must ask himself "Do we want one person with vast amounts of knowledge, or several people with vast amounts of knowledge?" Quote Selected
Troll Reply #37 – March 28, 2013, 07:20:01 PM Like i said just doing some sereyous thinking right now. And i wont make anyone feel uncomfortable one bit any more. But in the shop i am the boss and just trying to keep people working. Example when the economy tanked i was really in a good position. Reason being people are keeping older cars. But when the economy is good people buy new cars. So i had to change gears several times in the business world. The car business is difficult. I have sat back and read some of your profiles and it made me think a lot. Some are trained mechanics in different fields. Some are students some do not have jobs i am thinking and some have part time jobs and that made me think very hard. Even with the difference in income jobs and feelings we all love cars. I find that interesting that the training drove some in other directions. Like i said the car business is tough all the way around. This is common in my business as people do not basically like to be in the car business for whatever reason they decide it is there choice. You are regular hard working people and who the hell am i to bust you balls. But on the other hand i love to pass on things i do and if it helps someone that makes me feel good. But i get crazy with things as i go overboard when i do things. But then again people on the board just bashed the RICERS. I know it is just messing around but some of those ricers have cars that are DAM FAST. I mean fast as hell. And some hate chevys ETC. But it seems like when i point things out i am taken to task. Why i do not know that is why i am doing some sereyous thinking and keeping a low profile to gather my thoughts and ways. With that i do respect peoples ideas and knowledge. Even if i come off like a shiznit head. I have to change that and i will. Thanks Quote Selected
Troll Reply #38 – March 28, 2013, 10:36:14 PM Tom, i think respect for all is needed and common courtesy is in short supply these days in all walks of life. As i have said its more about style and delivery of an idea, than the idea itself. As for bashing Chevy's or Ricers, thats just good natured ball busting as this is a Ford Thunderbird/Cougar forum after all. Im sure its the same on the Chevy boards and the Subaru and Honda forums as well regarding our whopping 158 HP Thunderturds as they must call them. The hardest part of any online forum, is communicating ones state of mind and emotional state when posting. Basic things like sarcasm and humor often are misconstrued and hard to understand sometimes if you don't know the poster very well or where they are coming from. I don't think soul searching is needed or required, the vibe is maybe to just learn some patience and tolerance for other ways of doing things even if you know in your heart there is a faster or better way to get there. A PM can often achieve the more positive result than beating a idea into a person's skull who is married to their own way of doing things. If we had the ability to share a beer and hash it all out, this would be a 10 minute chat and we would all be laughing and kidding around. Quote Selected
Troll Reply #39 – March 29, 2013, 02:07:38 AM Quote from: 86cougar;412050I would hate to see anyone with years of knowledge get up and walk away. At the same time I feel some respect for one another is in order. Thanks! With all due respect, you should go back and read some of OP's posts when he first came here. I find it odd that someone who's confident, even arrogant at time about his experience, tools, cars, methods what-have-you would be so insufficient in...something, that he'd feel the need to go back and edit his posts to be less of something I can't.....understand.I've been on many a forum since 1998, read a LOT of shiznit talked and implied. This place has been the most down to earth and mellow place until just the past couple years. Almost all of the old guys who came here when the OLD tbird page crumbled knew and still know each other's names, and even their kids names. They had respect...and they came out with that respect first. Now it's all about "gimme gimme" first, and to hell with respect..just "hey, this is how I do it, it's the best way, and f*ck you if you feel differently.I'm strong willed too, but I can also learn new ideas if I see they are better than what my methods are. I also don't force my ways onto others. If TR wants to "take his ball and run home"...so be it. There was a little drama when him and his kid landed here, as well as on some other forums. They were a lot less tolerant, and maybe that just goes to say what a great group of folks we have that run this place. He has and does contribute, but, as stated, when argued with, it becomes a big g match each and every time. I've only ever put one guy on ignore here, and he was a complete douchenozzle, and was banned pretty sudden-like. I could make it two, and honestly, I should, but to me that's only slightly better than just leaving because I got chap-ass over something I read on the internet. North Korea is threatening to launch missile at our land, and here we are, arguing on the 'web like little kids on the playground. Jesus christ, what a waste of time this thread is. LOL. I wouldn't have wasted the gas to fly a plane over for just show though.....I would've put a bunch of ex lax in the bomb bay and let 'em have it.That way we can say we finally knocked the shiznit out of em. Troll Reply #43 – March 30, 2013, 04:13:07 PM Good time to send all those kids out on the streets in gangs ect. over to North Korea. Let them take their own guns and drop them (and their drugs) from aircraft. They are so set on killing someone, it would give them something to shoot at other than Americans and each other. Their mindless (yes, I'm being nice) parents probably wouldn't know that they are even gone as much as they seem to pay attention to them. In fact America has a few jails we could empty out that way. Don't worry, I'm not going to run for office......ever. Quote Selected
Troll Reply #44 – March 30, 2013, 04:57:43 PM I doubt the RNK has an army that can defeat ours, but some street kids that have no combat training will stand little chance.Hard to tell if they have any nuclear weapons, so it's a standoff in that regard. But in my opinion, a surgical strike to eliminate them as a nuclear threat would be a carefully weighed choice of action..notice i did not say a preemptive strike.I don't want to see a long drawn-out worthless war to bring a democracy to a people who really have no concept of such. I DO want to see action taken against people who would like threaten our nation, and those nations of free people who enjoy a way of life that those in the RNK do not. I don't think tossing nukes around the globe is at all a sensible thing, from either side. With that said, this is as political as I have ever been on this board, and it's not my intention to be that way. I'm sorry if this turns into a shiznitstorm, wasn't my intention at all.Long live the Red, White, and Blue, The American way of life, and a special thanks to our soldiers. Quote Selected
