I don't know all the details about the transaction, but I'm going to post a bunch of irrelevant opinions about old car parts, living in a police state, and faded paint on hard to find items.

I'm also a self-admitted ass, and I can live with that too. :flip:

If the part was cheap, and he didn't do much to talk it up, then that condition is about what you could expect. It is restorable with some work, so I would just go ahead with it. If you where promised a "Show Quality" piece, and did pay top dollar for that, I would be getting a refund right about now regardless.

Without knowing all the specifics of both sides, how can anyone even comment and side with one person or the other?

I do agree PM should have handled it all. If no satisfaction.... then bring it public. I feel we are all honest on this board and have very few problems like this, compared to some forums.

Not to be a dick or anything, its a somewhat hard to find piece anymore without selling your house to get it. We all are very resourceful people. If I had a 4 eyed car I would have bought it no questions asked. Barring the shape of the part, sandpaper and prep work and hell even a touch of 'glass and I'm sure it would be an exceptional piece. I've bought many parts from graham he's an exceptional person to deal with and if he has parts I need and visa versa I wouldn't think twice.

regardless of the condition or the sale, you specified no spider cracks and no one could verify this unless the paint were to be removed by the seller. Verfication of this would obviously change the current state of the product you purchased,, this might have been a good thing for you because then you would have had part of the work done for you so you could repaint.
I personally think the requirement you made was a little on the thick side because you obviously had pictures that supported the idea that regardless of condition, you knew full well going into the purchase that the item needed work...and you took the risk hoping it did not.

I suspect that the root cause for our issue is the fact that you feel the money you paid doesnt match what you purchased.
Now having brought this idea up, i apppologize for everythng i have said if you paid a bunch of money for this. I would expect it to be in perfect condition if i paid top dollar.

Typically I shy away from any comments or theads you particpate in. Afterall jcass does say alot!

The thread was not started as a knee jerk reaction. This has been ongoing for 6 weeks. If you note, I did not mention who sold this or what was paid, as I felt it was inappropriate. Graham offered the info. In addition he is working with to settle it. You will also note; I did not provide negitive feed back for Graham as that is permanent, this thread will fade.

I do deal professionally on the board and in my work place. Your insinuation is callus at best and certainly uniformed. Your comments would have been better served as a PM rather than in uniformed tirade against my character. But as most on the board understand: Consider the source.

If I had a part that I was selling I would take a nice of the parts before boxed up to ensure it was that quality that the person exspected.
I would also be quicker to resolve a problem than 6 weeks.

Just my 2 cents.

I also wouldn't put down the interigity of another member If I didn't know them personally

Sometimes an ordeal like this happens.
Am I the best seller on this forum? Hell no...and I'll tell you right now I'm slow to ship, sometimes I'm a day or two off of communications, or just let it be said I'm not as fast as most folks to ship a part if I sell something, but by god, if I send a bad part, OR it's something that was misrepresented, etc...I will make good on it.

Anyone can and will eventually make a mistake....it's the following actions of those individuals that determine their humility and care of other people's money/parts that matters.

I've made a couple mistakes...but I worked them out, and we've moved on. Was it my fault? Yes, and I learned from it. Just be honest, and keep the lines of communication open. Text, phone calls, emails...just takes a few seconds. The crooks and scoundrels are quickly found out and dealt with here. Vinnie and I have had a couple of bad deals, but we're good, in fact, just received a part from him today, sight unseen. THAT'S faith, ethics, and all that good fuzzy stuff.

I'm not taking sides, and I think the OP is on the right track. A negative feedback is pretty serious.

With that said, hopefully the involved parties can overcome this and walk away satisfied. On a side note, Graham and I have swapped, bought, sold, and traded parts freely amongst ourselves and never an issue between us...except for a cheap (free!) way to send heavy parts between us lol

I think there are several things happening here. I will attempt to logic out what i have read so far.
1st, most of this kind of thing is able to be sorted out via PM or a few emails and phone calls. Graham is a decent guy, and i don't believe there was any intent to defraud at any time. Communication is the issue 99% of the time. Either the buyer and/or seller are of different mind about a sale, whether about price, condition, shipping etc. We are dealing with 30+ year old parts, and this stuff doesn't grow on tree's. That being said, any part, no matter how rare or desireable or needed, should be well photographed in good light and buyer and seller should be of one mind about the sale, terms, conditions of said sale. In the digital age, it is really so easy to snap a few clean images from all angles to ensure a proper representation of the item. Uploading takes seconds........its very easy to do now, as opposed to the film days. Sellers need to describe accurately, and buyers need to do their own due diligence on the item they are buying to ensure they are getting what want or need. This is a tight knit group, and there is no need for anything to get personal....we are here to support and help each other, cause until Thunderbirds R US opens, we are the red headed stepchildren of the FORD family. I recently took a bad hit from Hurricane Sandy, and was awed by the offers of help and support here by some members, so i know how good it can be here. Seems like the parties involved are working things out, we should all just try and respect the process now, and wait for an update as to how it was amicably resolved.
