Things i make

Well i searched for months for a tool to remove the snap ring on the F350 pickup. The snap ring is on the front hub. Now i know clearly their is a tool but all my tool guys are silent to what it is. And Ford does not have a special tool to remove this MASSIVE SNAP RING. SOOOOOOOOOOOO I made a tool. Here it is. All i have to do now is wait for my snap ring to come from thr dealer to figure out how to make the points. I ordered a set of tips from my snap on guy. I might just use that setup. But as all that knows me i am determined to come up with a good tool for this purpose. All my garage friends have the same problem with this snap ring. Soon it will be history as i think this tool will solve this problem Thanks

nice, but a big pair of snap on pliars is all you need.

I know but the snap on set did not clear the HUB. I tried them.

im gonna be getting into a full sized 351 bronco 1990 here soon and replace a lock in hub, the kind selected from the cab, hope i dont run into that problem

NO the only trucks that have the ring is the newer units. They did not do their homework on this as the snap ring is very deep in the hub. It has no clearance on the sides and it is a monster snap ring.

Are the 3/4 ton trucks the same way, or is it just the 1 tons?

Absolutely, no doubt those are a real mfer to get out. These make it a little easier, still not perfect

i dont see the link or pic either but,,

i do have wratcheting snap ring plier set that is really pretty narrow and long.  i like the wratchet part because it holds the ring open/closed.
this is a very old pair and if you want , i can take a pic of them, they are about 10'' long  and have some odd looking scissor action/wratched locking thing going on that make them work nice,, heavy duty to.  I think i got em at a flea market in the 80' somewhere.  I thought i might need them one day

the heads that go on them are straight or hooked and in your case, it sounds like you'd prefer straight,,like you gotta dive into a narrow round area occupied by an axle shaft as well and reach deep

the first person i thought of was tom,,,,,,,,,,when i went to remove the tiny connectors off the fuel injectors and then it occured to me,,,,

every friggin time i need to take off a connector on this ford stuff, you need three hands,, one hand for each of the two clips and a third to pull the connector apart.

so,,,,,,,,,
introduciing the connector tool.  made from a piece of s metal roofing ..LOL,,

but,,,,,, it works quicker than snot once you get the hang of it.

Both great ideas and I don't doubt some of the homemade stuff works better than what you can buy.

Sharing ideas like this make me look at problems differently and try to come up with other solutions. :hick:
