I posted earlier I had a ram clutch...it's been awhile...it's actually a Zoom and clutch chatter is not only considered acceptable for this clutch, Zoom says to expect it....I've heard of a lot of guys using Spec clutches in the import world, but never really heard any feedback about them one way or the other.  I saw a few posts earlier that an MGW shifter was recommended....best shifter money can buy...they could double the price and anybody who's ever used one on a T-5 will tell you they're still worth every penny.

Glad to get some definitive feedback on that. Definitely gonna get the MGW then.
I ended up putting in a hydraulic hand brake too, so I can reach over and lock the rear tires when needed.

Tig welded up some 1/8th inch late to make the mounting bracket.

Got the new clutch in. I'm trying to get some miles on it today to get it broken in for a drift event at Lime Rock next weekend.




Changed the front and rear seals on the trans too.

Also welded a plate on the shifter to move it back to a better position for me.

Looks like that shifter mod will work till you get that MGW unit.:burnout:

Yup, building cars goes one paycheck at a time. Hopefully will be ordering the MGW out of next weeks check :) Has anyone else felt that the shifter was a little to far forward with the t5? it just seemed like i was reaching for gears.

If you are tall it will feel to far forward or at least it does for me and I am 6'-1".  That is why the MGW will be going in the car after I get it running again.

I'm only 5'6. I thought the problem was that I was too short.  I guess it just needs to be moved back a little for our cars. The other problem I have is grinding 2nd gear when the tranny is cold. Once it warms up it shifts fine.

I just ordered some goodies :) I got the MGW Shifter and the white  with blue stripes(with the 5 speed gear pattern, of course).
