AOD transmission v6 vs v8

Is there a diffrence between the aod/torque converter used behind a v6 and a v8 ??? See I put a aod and the torque converter from a v8 aod behind a v6 and the shifts seems to happen much earlier than they should. It goes down the road but the shifts almost bog the engine down they happen so soon.

Any Ideas?? enlighten me

Thanks Andrew

I believe the stall on the V6 is greater than that of the V8. So in essense... you just downgraded your torque converter. Or at least that's the way I see it. :dunno:

Overly quick shifts are usually cased by the TV cable, not what engine is in the car.

Shorten the cable, should delay/firm up the shifts..

So Are the convertors the same?  Might be a cheap upgrade for some if the V6 convertor did infact have a higher stall....

it's is higher. i have a v6 converter behind my 5.0 and the guy at the trans shop looked it up in the book for me bc i thought we messed up and was chasing a problem at the time. but anyway the V6 is higher  but only by like one hundred or 2 not gonna make you brun the tires off the car eaither like a good atermarket. but good cheep upgrade.

but lets think how cheep would it be for a not so hands on guy looking for a cheep upgrade. you got to pull the trans. is it worth it for that litte gain? most likely not  if you go threw that work put a good one in. but i understang the times are tight and cant afford that 300 dollar converter. . ok i have said to much .  later

oh by the way V8 trans got more clutch packs or something like that.  and if it's out of a mustang of lincoln  they have the "B" overdriver servo  i think 20% more apply to the over drive band.
trick flow street heat intake , 24lbs injetors, ported GT-40's (Chip) long tube headers. and a Performance Automatic C4, with a hurst shifter!

I knew about the clutches...and the servos.....didn't know how much of a stall difference on the V6 and V8.  You're right 200 rpm aint worth it.

Per some tranny manual the Super Coupe AOD had a 2300-2600 stall... BUT DON'T BELIEVE IT!!!

Mine didn't stall anywhere near the cheapie $149 B&M 2000 I had. For the price and on a nearly stock engine, that B&M ain't a bad deal. Ronnie beat on the one I sold him with probably 60-70 125hp shots of N2O and it never whimpered.
