2.3 question

Is there a difference between the 2.3 in the ranger vs. the turbocoupe? Aside from the turbo. Better put that out there before my balls get busted to bad :punchballs:

So first off thanks for the reply. Guess I should've asked what the differences are. Since I didn't find squat when searching.

2.3T bottom end is forged, blocks are stronger, heads are different etc etc.. it's like comparing an SC3.8 to the NA3.8

Only different part in the bottom end is the piston, which is a low compression forged unit in the turbo motors. Cranks and rods are identical. Personally, IMHO, the stronger block thing is a myth. Heads use a different exhuast valve, and an open chamber, versus the closed chamber in the N/A unit. With slight modification to the chamber to increase volume, the N/A head can be used on the turbo motor. No strength difference between the two.

Up next: FMIC, fresh air intake, ported intakes, ported big valve head.

Ford did very little to the 2.3 to make it turbo.....its kinda cool how little they did and how tough the engine is.
