Frustrated beyond belief!!!

As you may know my long-tube header and floor shifter install has become quite a headache.  To further complicate things now my dad who is also my landlord and lives in the same building is telling me I can't work on my car because of the weather!  It's sunny as hell, and 34 degrees.  I had been working on it in the snow last week, last night he insisted I waited for him to take a look at the car this morning.  He says it's for my safety, blah effing blah.  It's simple, jack the car up, put boards under the jack stands and bam it's secure and won't fall.

To add to it he insists I don't carry my CC pistol, but he carries his.  I'm seriously sick of this bullshiznit.  I'm 27 years old, and sick of being treated like a child.  I'm sick of my retired parents carting my ass around.  It'll be two weeks Wednesday.

Last time I listened to him I passed up buying a vehicle that sure would have come in handy right about now.  Especially since my wife is supposed to be starting a job soon.

Oh and I can't post anything on facebook without him adding his 2 cents.  I know he means well, but I'm a grown ass man.  If I want to pay a gunsmith to plug useless holes left behind by iron sights and refinish my deer rifle, why the hell can't I.  Yes he said the headers would be a headache, I knew they would, but not this much.  Anyone want to buy an 85 bird with a tv thats stuck in the transmission?

Exactly!  Told the wife as soon as we can we're moving.  Also got the stuck TV figured out, told him to shut up and let me do it.

Yep. Vote with your feet. Be a big boy and move the hell out. Can't blame a dad for caring. I wish every day that mine was still alive.

The safety thing I can understand...I wouldn't want my son getting smashed by a car when he's 27...

The other parts...well, I can relate to that as well. My father second-guess everything I do, contradicts my knowledge, and then tells me my Tbird won't ever run. Hell, I drove it today!

Just fatherly instinct I guess....don't have too much hate...there will be a day when you'll be standing over a stone wishing he was here again.

But...I do think you and your wife will be much happier in your own place. If you want to work on cars in 34* and snow..well...lol, I'll wait till it's a little closer to 50 lmao

I can relate, it sucks not having a garage. I enjoy working on my car, but I hate doing it outside, in dirt, while it's below freezing out. You gotta drag your heavy floor jack through the dirt, place boards under every jack stand so they don't sink into the dirt. And I definitely know how you feel having only one car. You really feel the pressure when you know you -need- to get this done -now-, or risk having to bum a ride to work the next day. Hang in there though, you'll get it done. Maybe now is a good time to swap in a T5 and not ever have to worry about TV cables or torque converters ever again :D :D :D

It sounds like finding your own place would be a good idea. Rent's not cheap though, I'm still living with my parents because I know I can't afford even a single room place on my own. It's easy for a lot of guys on here say "move out kid," but there's a lot more to it than that. With that said, I truly respect my parents and I value their input. My dad has helped me a lot with my car.

Got it done, I bypassed his argument about jacks being unsafe right now.  I left it on the single ramp on the driver side and did it with maybe 12 inches of clearance.  I understand he means well, but he and I are too much alike in that when we want/need to do something no one can tell us otherwise.  The living arrangement isn't that bad, we have our own 2 bedroom apartment, my parental units just happen to live in the downstairs.  They are buying another house to fix up and rent, we are really looking to rent it from them if we can afford to.

I know he never says it, but I know he loves me.  I know my life won't be the same when he's gone.

Get your own place on your own. Renting is fine, but don't rent from family, otherwise, , you're just asking for more of the same. Then, you'll have no more business complaining. You say you can't stand all the parent stuff, yet you seem set on , on some level, staying in that environment. I haven't lived with my parents since I was 17. Not renting, nothing. On my own. I love my parents dearly, but there's also nothing wrong at all with being on your own. You can love your parents with all your heart. You should, but, live on your own. No worries about landlord dad....just plain ol' dad. The two don't go together well. There's a term. never do business with family.
