8.8 rearend problem

I was doing a 5 lug swap and all was going well til i found 2 gears in my oil drainpan!  they are the ones that the big pin goes thru.  i got no idea how they just "fell" out.  Now I cant figure out how to put then back in.  I am trying to "lock" one axle and rotate the ring gear, but I cant get it to mesh back in.  What to do!

LOL, been there with those spider gears.  They fell out cause you had the pin out and turned the yoke? It's been 10 years since I had this happen so the details are fuzzy,  I remember lining up the little gears and turning yoke till the little gears walked into place.  I'm sure someone can give you a better description.. seeing your post brought back memories LOL don't worry you'll be okay its a 2 min fix if that.

edit:  was thinking back to when that happened to me, you have to put both gears in at that same time cause if you only try to put one in when your rotating you can get one in but it will fall out when you try the second gear in..( I think I setup the yoke to where I can see everything and than rotated the axle till they both walked into place)

Easy my a$$. LOL  I am trying to lock the ring gear, and then turn an axle to roll the gear up..is that correct? The spider gear just binds right away.    I am having a hell of a time trying to bind up the ring gear cuz I dont have any wheels now that i have the 5 lug axles in and the brake calipers arent on yet.

You need a helper put a pry bar in the studs and rotate till its resting on the ground. Or take a break walk away for a minute and call a friend . Good luck or do it like Tom said

how do I "spin the spider"?  Are the side gears supposed to move easily, cuz I gotta use a prybar on the axle with the driveshaft locked up to make em move. If i move the driveshaft or an axle, the ring gear and housing spin, while the side gears dont move.  Even then I get it close, it wont go past the housing.  In fact the thrust washer came flying off when i gave it a bit of force.

You're gonna need to take the S spring out to take the preload off the side gears so you can rotate them independently and install the spiders.
