Accident January 08, 2012, 12:52:09 AM I got into an accident with my bird today. I was pulling into Mom's driveway, when I heard a honk. I looked over just in time to see a large newer model white car heading towards me. At this point in time all I could do was continue into the driveway. She had to have been doing about 30 at time of impact, after applying the brakes. Residential neighborhood where children play mind u. I grabbed my insurance out of the glovebox and got out of the car. Looked over at her car that was full of people and saw nobody appeared to be hurt. She had gotten out of her car and was flayling her arms yelling it was my fault. I instructed her to park her car out of the street and we would exchange insurance info. She consulted her passengers and then waved and said nobody was hurt. She jumped back into her car and sped away. Her car had major damage. I could see 6 inches of core support under the tweaked headlight. I have not had a chance to clean and inspect my T-Bird really well ( It's filthy due to recent weather). It appears to only have paint transfer from other car and a piece knocked out of the right rear quarter trim. Quote Selected
Accident Reply #1 – January 08, 2012, 01:17:16 AM Well, at least everyone was alright; they just don't make cars like they used to lol. Quote Selected
Accident Reply #2 – January 08, 2012, 01:24:24 AM Her reaction kind of makes me think she had no insurance, or something illegal was going on. I'll just go on and fix my bird. Has anyone tried to repair the trim? Or will it have to be replaced? Quote Selected
Accident Reply #3 – January 08, 2012, 09:07:23 AM license plate number?sounds like she got her speed down before you had contact, good thing to because these cars dont take a hit too well anywhere.trim is trim, plastic or rubber so fixing isnt all that hard. Quote Selected
Accident Reply #4 – January 08, 2012, 09:58:42 AM i would have called the cops, that'shiznit and run.. but that's me and i love giving people what they deserve.. she left the scene so whether it was your fault or her's, it is now officially all on her for leaving the scene of the accident Quote Selected
Accident Reply #5 – January 08, 2012, 10:02:03 AM You defenately should've gotten her plate number and reported her for a hit and run. Quote Selected

In a way, she is kind of getting what she deserved. Her car repairs will not be cheap. She kind of did me a favor, because that would have made a good dent in my insurance. I should have gotten her plate number though, reporting her would have been the right thing to do. No telling how much trouble she would have been in with it being a hit and run along with whatever reason she ran. Quote Selected

Accident Reply #8 – January 08, 2012, 11:55:17 AM I agree, I should have gotten her plate number and reported her. Later on today I will clean the rear quarter to get a good look at the damage. I'll get a pic then. From what I see now, a little polish and trim repair and it will be good as new. Quote Selected
Accident Reply #9 – January 08, 2012, 01:04:21 PM First: nobody was hurt (as far as you know)Second: I'd still call the fuzz, make a report and description of the other vehicle. Hell, your insurance company could sue her, and fix whatever is wrong with your car, etc.Could've been much worse, but I'm sure that's been ran through your head by now lol.Good luck! Quote Selected
Accident Reply #10 – January 08, 2012, 03:14:16 PM even if his insurance sues it would still go down on his insurance as increase. any kind of claim does. Quote Selected
Accident Reply #11 – January 08, 2012, 04:47:21 PM This is a good idea. Even if it's just to protect yourself. You never know what she might try to pull and get you into trouble. Quote Selected
Accident Reply #12 – January 08, 2012, 06:00:33 PM If she didn't give you her insurance you can guarantee she didn't have any.I would call the police with a description of the driver and vehicle. The fact that it was badly damaged should make it easier to spot. Quote Selected
Accident Reply #13 – January 08, 2012, 06:18:29 PM You should at least notify your insurance company about what happened. Even if you intend to fix it yourself. Then they are in the loop in case she comes looking to cause trouble. I would also let the insurance company decide whether you should call the police. Your insurance company would probably write it off even though it is a hit and run. If you had the license number they may pursue action against her. The important thing is no one was hurt. Accident Reply #14 – January 08, 2012, 08:06:08 PM i would at the very least, make a stop at the police station and file a report tomorrow.. have an officer take a quick look at the damage.. explain to him that you can fix it yourself and ask his opinion on contacting your insurance company.. i highly doubt your insurance will go up 1 red cent with such little damage, the fact that it wasn't your fault and the fact that she fled the scene.. she's 110% at fault since it washiznit and run, so your ass is covered, no matter what.. if she does have insurance and is tracked down, HER insurance will skyrocket, because she is now a 'risk' Quote Selected
