I don't understand that at all Eric.  Your car is an 86.  86 Cat/Birds weigh around 500 lbs less than 87/88's.  Even though you vert has all that extra bracing to compensate for not having a roof, I don't see how your car could be so much heavier than an 88 TC that it would compress bran new TC front springs that much.  Have you weighed your car?  It must weigh close to 4,000 lbs.

My best guess is 3800 lbs. if not more. The heavier 8.8" rear, bigger brakes, bigger wheels/tires, bracing...they all add up LOL.
I'd like to have it weighed more accurately but have no real good means to do so in my area.

Yeah, it's Porky Pig, and I'm no lightweight myself, sooooooo...it's not as fast as it should be, but still well fast enough to get me in trouble. :hick:

The stock 86 V8 front springs you're running in the front are the same as what 87/88 T Bird Sports run, right?  Most T Birds that run those springs look like they're on stilts, so I can see how they'd give a heavy car like yours a perfect ride height.

The pre-1987 cars had their own V8 spring rates. I didn't have the heavy duty suspension option so they are pure stock 1986 V8 springs.
Don't forget, Ford revised the spring rates in 1987 to make up for the infamous spring sag from the earlier models. So if you happen to get good, stock earlier springs, you just use them until they break. ;)

I have CHE non adjustable's, 8.8, and springs from a 87 or 88 Sport. not sure which.... The rear end dropped at least about 2-1/2" after I put everything back together..
Then I added GT Stang springs in the front of my car, which surprisingly raised it up almost 2 inches.. everything turned into a huge mess  for me until I added air shocks to the rear.
I was very surprised that the rear dropped so much after installing the CHEs.... but I do have a lot of extra weight on my car,

I'm just babbling.....
