Howdy Yall

I Just purchased my first fox body, and just joined the forum. I just wanted to introduce myself. I have had 2 Cougars and 1 T-Bird but this is my first Fox Bird. It is an 88 LX and only has 56K original miles. I was playing on the internet when I found it and just had to have it. It was over 17 hrs away so seeing it in person was not an option. I got it for a little over $3,000 and spent $680 to have it shipped to me. Much to my relief it was every bit the car they had advertised. I have a lot of auto knowledge, but I look forward to learning more about these Birds. They have always been my favorite. Who lives the closest to me? Pampa is 1 Hr east of Amarillo,Tx.

5.0 HO 306 roller block, machined GT-40P heads, Wiseco dished forged pistons, Eagle forged floating I-beam connecting rods, Lunati pushrods, ARP bolts, Scorpion aluminum 1.6 rockers, Comp Cams Magnum 266HR, Explorer intake, 65mm TB, MAF Conversion, 19# injectors, Ford Racing stainless P-headers, 2-1/2" cat-less exhaust w/ Flowtech Afterburner lers , SC AOD with 2800 BDR torque converter, 3.73 T-Lok rear, CHE rear control arms, full 2-1/2" frame w/1" jacking rails & seat supports, Rear disk brakes, Turbine wheels, All original interior w/ floor shift upgrade .......
Pretty much every panel on my 87 is new, rebuilt, or re constructed. :D

Welcome aboard. Although you're a distance from me, you're one of the closer member in my area. I'm in the bottom central part of Oklahoma here in Ardmore, right off I-35.. Welcome to the forum. Post a few pis of the ol' Bird. What do you have planned for it? Are you modding or keeping it stock?

I'll post pics as soon as I get my hands on a camera. It will get it's fair share of mods, but they will have to wait. I have 2 F150 projects that must be finished first and to say my house is a fixer upper would be an understatement. Interior won't be changed much. No wear on seats. Back seat appears to have never been sat in. I like the comfy LX seats that are in it. The carpet has plastic on it. I don't know if it is the original plastic, or if the dealership I bought it from puts it in all used cars after cleaning. Anyhow the carpet looks brand new. Only damage on inside is cracked dash on driver side. I would like to do away with the fake woodgrain on the dash. The clearcoat on the paint has disappeared on driver side rear quarter. Paint will be the last thing I do. Dorky hubcaps have got to go! brake upgrade is a must. Don't know on engine upgrades. Whatever I do will be extensive. For now it runs great after I changed out the original plugs, wires, cap and rotor. All of the fluids look like they came strait out of the bottle, except for coolant. That would explain the coolant leak. Thank you all for such a warm welcome!

I had an 81 F150 with woodgrain. I used paint and real red oak to cover it up. Looked great and matched the red oak center console my Dad made for me. I could do the same here if I got creative enough. It could look real classy. I would rather go with a more sporty look though. Brushed aluminum is a thought, but I think it will stand out too much. Factory black panels may cause it to look cheap. They do look good on some of them though. It depends on what the rest of the interior looks like. What I would really like to do is cover the woodgrain with fake carbon fiber. I'll see if I can find some somewhere.

I guess I have left out the details. I don't know the name of the color, but it is light blue. Dark blue interior. Its a 5.0. No disrespect to owners of other engine sizes, but I would not have even considered buying it without a 5.0. I've had 2 3.8s and won't go back for a 3rd. 5.0s are simple and have decent power in stock form. It's an LX, which means it has the fancy seats, fancy options like the automatic headlights, and of course column shift AOD. Floor shift would be nice, but that would be a good place for a cupholder. I don't have a shop manual for this year, but from what I can tell it has an open rear diff with 2.73s (Yuck!)
