The wife's Maxima is home..UPDATE

Monday, we put the Maxima in the body shop with about $5,000 in body damage from hail we got this year. In our estimate, it included a new trunk lid, hood, paint and prep, trim pieces, etc. Well, we picked the car up yesterday evening (sun going down, and it looked pretty good, but needed to be cleaned. We went home, and forgot about it for a while. Today, Gayle is cleaning her car, and calls me over.....they did paintless dent removal, and did NOT replace the hood and trunk lid as stated in our receipt, and ended up charging us about $2000 for work they didn't do. Gayle took care of this, but I'm in it now. Monday will be an ugly, ugly day for someone.

More on that Monday.

No worries about that. Gayle always tells me to stop picking things apart. I have a strong tendency to nit-pick things to the smallest detail. I buttstuffyze everything. ....in seconds. I 'll be showing my Irish temper Monday. It took me YEARS to get over that, now I'll put it to good use.

A shop here was doing that. They would quote prices for the most expensive type of repair, then do it the cheapest way and pocket the extra cash. Contact your Insurance Company about it also, they are likely to follow up and possible file suit against the shop. It's extremely illegal(fraud) and they could and should lose all business associated with your insurance company if that's how they do business. I worked in a shop for three years, and the shop I'm talking about was down the street, they lost business with 4 different agencies because of behavior like this. PDR work is fantastic if that's what you want, but if you're paying for more, then don't settle for less. This has my blood boiling, I can't stand people who do such things.

We knew that PDR was for the roof, but the hood and trunk were supposed to be swapped out. I have the receipts showing the cost of those panels, prep, paint, clear coat, and installation...about $2000.00. It will be cleared up tomorrow.

Tom, we called the insurance adjuster, and our insurance agent asap. We're going ourselves to the body shop Monday (tomorrow) and make things happen. Then the fun starts.

Well look on the bright side. You could have bought a brand new car and had the rear bumper hit twice in the first two months of ownership ;).

Oh, it's worth it. I won't get violent and go to jail, but I can get loud if necessary and and be pretty mean when I need to be.

O.K., we just got off the phone from the Insurance company, then the body shop...

First, the insurance made the checks for repairs to us, not the body shop, so, they weren't defrauding the insurance company, they were ripping us off.

Second,it was made clear that I had taken a few days off to manage a family, take our son to school, take Gayle to work and with one car, and I wasn't going to accommodate them or spend any money making time for them. SO, they are renting Gayle a car that equals the Maxima from Enterprise today, and the Maxima goes in for new hood and trunk lid after she gets off work, along with replacing the chrome roof trim that was already broken when we picked it up,and fixing the sunroof that worked before they pulled the headliner to repair the roof.....s.

More as it happens.
