O.K., got a little work done..... October 22, 2011, 06:46:07 PM I got up at 5:30 this morning (I slept late.LOL), and sat around for a while waiting for the sun to come up. Around 8:30 I got all my tools ready, parts I needed, and then came inside until 9:00. Around 9:15, I got started by pulling the passenger seat, rear seat, console and shifter, then, on to the dash. I got it pulled out pretty quick with no issues.. I unbolted the heater core box and yes, !!!, I had to empty the a/c system. On the good side, it's only $40.00 to have the guy recharge the system for me. I can do that. The swap was fairly painless. Right after the dash was back in place and the shifter and console re-installed, we went to work under the hood.I pulled the upper intake and valve covers and installed the new 1.6 roller rockers. I felt that with the TFS-1 cam, the 1.7's I had were really a little too much. That also went really nice and smooth. No issues at all........although I still, at 5:43pm, haven't tested it by starting the car yet. I'll get to that later. We buttoned the car up at exactly 2:00 this afternoon. I took a shower then we went down town to do a little shopping and get some "healthy" foods. By the way, it costs a lot more to eat healthy than it does for the "fun" foods. So, that's about it for the day. Quote Selected
O.K., got a little work done..... Reply #1 – October 22, 2011, 06:51:16 PM Health food is expensive. I used to be far heavier than I am now, so I can see the benefit. I eat fast food perhaps once every two months.Staying active certainly helps. Quote Selected
O.K., got a little work done..... Reply #2 – October 23, 2011, 07:48:30 AM I realized right before I went to bed last night (well, this morning at 1:00), that I forgot to hook up that black hose to the bottom corner of the heater box. Gotta do that this morning when the sun comes up a little. I also drilled a small hole in the bottom ,lower corner of the box to drain the fluid out. I'll plug that with a small black screw and some rtv. Then.....Test run and short road trip to check it all out. I know with the heat on, I'm going to have that antifreeze smell for a while due to what little moisture got into the foam and what I couldn't reach to dry up. Oh well, it'll work itself out I suppose. I'm just glad it's over. Quote Selected
O.K., got a little work done..... Reply #3 – October 23, 2011, 11:49:59 AM O.K., started the Sport, and the idle was not right. I let it sit for a minute, still a little hinky, so, I swapped the TPS for one of my extras, that seems to have fixed it. The heater core and rockers appear to be doing their job,so, test drive (well, I just want to drive) later. For now, chillaxin' and thinking about taking a personal day from work tomorrow....because I can, and I hate those s that I work for anyway. Quote Selected
O.K., got a little work done..... Reply #4 – October 24, 2011, 12:15:50 AM Glad your repair work went smoother than mine; I went through a nightmare changing my trans line connectors because of a stupid rusty exhaust bolt. Quote Selected
O.K., got a little work done..... Reply #5 – October 24, 2011, 06:57:16 AM Sounds like it went pretty well for you. Now you can get back to enjoying it! Quote Selected
O.K., got a little work done..... Reply #6 – October 24, 2011, 07:39:42 AM I didn't test drive her yesterday as planed, so, I'll be doing that as I take my boy to school. Shouldn't be any issues. The Sport loves me, and is very good to me. Usually anything that goes wrong is because the part that goes bad is an original piece. he doesn't test me like the blue devil did. Quote Selected
