New wheels for the 88 TC... chrome or polished?

Now that the car is looking like something I've been thinking about a set of 'summer' rims.

I like the early Cobra-R 4 lug wheel the best.

Would it be better to get chrome or polished aluminum?  I never really have had any experience with chrome wheels.

Opinions?

Oh, it's a silver poly car. All silver, no trim.

I would lean towards the polished aluminum or maybe a machined finish. ;D

I had chrome R's on mine (and silver for a while). The chrome was wicked easy to clean. They can also be found pretty cheap as well (in almost any color that was available).

Thanks for the opinions.

I guess I am leaning towards chrome for the maintenance free aspect.

The polished are nice but seem like they might take more upkeep to stay looking good.

The concern I have with chrome is that the chrome would start to flake or pit, where the polished wheels wouldn't do that.

Don't run the chrome wheels in the winter, have some steel spares for that. Keep 'em clean and waxed and the chrome will last. Ya, your right about the polished ones needing more upkeep. Try keeping 6 24.5 truck wheels, 2 150 gl tanks, 2 half fenders polished and looking good.    :punchballs:

Alot of the newer wheels especially factory wheels are clear coated to help with upkeep. I know my Mach 1s are.

Those are real nice. I'd hate to lose the quad shocks. I wonder if that applies to a 'bird as well as a 'stang?

I'd almost have to see them on the car to know.

I guess I've seen enough Cobra R rims that I am comfortable that I'd like them.

1BadBird, Awesome rig! Looks like a ton of work to keep looking like that.

Since they're summer only I'd go polished.

Thanks, ya it usually took a full day of work once a month to keep it that way. Ultimately it's up to you. They both have pretty good "pros & cons".

I was wondering about the quad shock also. Since the axles are 3/4 of an inch longer, I have been wondering that myself. I really really like them though.
