my black tc has a motor and trans!

through an odd chain of events this morning, i picked up a stock block 306 and AOD with a shift kit for practically nothing.. since i have nothing better to do, i decided to go pick my hoist up from my buddy's, where i'm storing some of my bigger tools(and my blue tc) until i move. only took me about 45 minutes to get it in and bolted up, since the car has no motor and the trans was in the trunk. just need to dig out some other goodies for it before i can fire her up. i just need to dig up a rad, duraspark 3 wire distributor, 1 of my MSD boxes, an in-line pulse fuel pump and an alt. other than that, i just need to straighten out the bottom of the rad support for the time being and put the nose back together.. then she'll be mobile for the first time since i've owned her

i'll post a few pics when i'm able to get online.. my net is on the fritz

Neat! Sounds like a good deal with just what you needed.

Good luck gathering the rest of your parts.

sad part is, i didn't really need it lol after i finish doing the sas in my sonoma, the car is getting completely stripped and gutted to either build a race car or light(er) street demond with another 351w stroker.. really itching to build a high compression 418w with a tko and locked 9" behind it ;) lol but for now, this should make her a winter beater

she's not pretty. that's for sure lol. but she'll relieve my poor yota from it's daily driver duty for a while so i can focus on finishing the bed, that's all that matters.. just waiting on a radiator now.. couldn't find 1 in the junkyard so i had to order 1 from the parts store.. was half tempted to rob the 1 out of my blue tc, but i don't want to disable the car in any way, she's my baby lol i dug the rest of the stuff out late last night and started putting some of it in this morning.. resting now because my leg is bothering me, but hopefully i can get the fuel system and ignition done by the end of the day.. i'm anxious to see how she runs, she has a decent little list of goodies hiding below the intake.. just sucks that it's topped off with a py performer intake, E7's and a  holley.. i need to find an edelbrock 650 :(

Can't be anything some body work and paint can't fix. Whats wrong with the Holley? My old 85 F250 had the stock Holley 4 barrel on the 351W. It ran like a champ. Then again I've never had an Edelbrock carb.  I guess I'm missing something?

body work and paint will come after the winter, when i rip it back apart. me and holley's don't get along.. ESPECIALLY vacuum secondary carbs, they suck.. plus this carb doesn't have the cable hookup for an AOD.

on a good note, she fired up.. i had to fill the bowls with gas with a spray paint cap, since my inline pump turned out to be a pos.. but either way, she fired and ran for about 20 seconds, until the primary bowl ran out.. nice throttle response, which means she'll probably be running a little lean when it gets up to temp.. i'll worry about tuning when i put an edelbrock on it

rad apparently came in yesterday but they didn't call me until this morning to notify me.. so, when i picked it up, i also c00ched up a mr gasket pulse pump.. cheap, but it's doing the trick.. got the water lines all hooked up and let her run for a few minutes while i took some stuff out of the car that i had thrown in there when she was on the trailer.. cleared out the passenger side and what do i find? WATER leaking out of the heater core >:l just cut a short line to go from the water pump to the intake for now, i'll do the heatercore after i get a driveshaft under it and take it for a ride.. still need to do the PS pump. it needs a new resivoir, since ford sucks in this department and made them out of cheap plastic..

well, my rear is garbage.. took it for a nice, easy trip down the street and thought i heard something, so i stepped into it a little and sure enough, the rear is humming.. so much for this being a quick and easy throw-together project >:(

Wow musta been a pretty abused rear end :(. Congrats on YOUR score with the motor and trans. Definitely can't beat that lol.

pretty much.. i think the whole car was abused lol the guy i got the cars from said the motor in this 1 was trashed

i'm actually quite surprised in the amount of grunt from the motor with the py top end combo.. was definitely a good trade for parts i didn't want anymore.. capri hatch, capri tail lights, a set of 10 holes with beat tires and the innercooler that was on the blue tc's old 4 banger

8.8s are reeeally tough, it's shocking that it's possible....but then again the mark vii one in my silver cat has like 1/4" of end play in the axle shafts LOL. Goes "BONK" around turns sometimes and when taking off from a stop occassionally. Maybe it's just lonely back there and saying hi.

And as for the top end of the motor...hardly the worst combo! Depends like anything on exactly what range you wanna be in. All I know is the red car would keep running away right to 6 grand with E7s and an explorer intake. That and 3.73 gears made it a lot of fun, for me anyway. Helped move 3700 lbs of turd out of the hole LOL

oh, she's hurt.. some ring teeth are chewed or cracked and the spiders are loose.. i still have my old bronco 8.8, i wonder if they're the same spline.. that has a powertrax lock-right in it with 4.10's

and i didn't say the ccombo was the worst, it's just not the greatest.. especially with the pos performer 289
