Remember this chase scene

Before shooting, He (McQueen) said the Stang looked too nice for a cops salary, and he did some minor tweaking by giving it some character marks. They also removed all Mustang and Ford lettering and badges from it due to licensing issues with Ford. The owner of the car now, who's had it for years, will not allow anyone to see it, and he won't do interviews. The Dodge had the 440 in it, the Stang had a 390. They had to beef up the Stang somewhat to take the jumps down the streets. The Dodge was fine. If you'll notice, the Dodge takes the jumps and doesn't bottom out. R/T suspension !!! They also did a little work to the 390 due to being out-powered by the 440. The Charger was hooked to the Stang with a release mechanism in the end of the chase sequence. The Charger was supposed to plow into the fuel tanks, but actually missed. You can see the Charger passing the tanks when they explode. Something you wouldn't really notice without looking and knowing what to look for. Still the best chase scene ever. Steve McQueen did his own driving, and the guy in the Charger (can't remember his name) also did his own driving. I'm off work today and tomorrow.....Hmmmm............Yes, time to break out the DVD.
