What The... Reply #1 – August 17, 2011, 04:23:37 PM It's the vibration damper from the front of the driveshaft. Pull the driveshaft and remove the ring. May want to re-balance the drive shaft as well as a just-in-case . Quote Selected

Reply #6 – August 18, 2011, 08:09:31 PM I figured I'd probly be fine without it since my dad a former master auto/diesel mechanic was stumped when I said I had a metal ring around my drive shaft lol. On my next day off I'll bust out the angle grinder and cut it off and pick up some more sockets and wrenches when I can....no one touches my tools but me...so I'm stumped about my missing wrench Quote Selected

What The... Reply #8 – August 19, 2011, 06:47:20 AM Snap On makes an impact socket for this application. Also the socket must be an impact socket or it will break. I have 3 in my box because i have broken many. But the Snap On guy comes every Friday like clock work. Their sockets are lifetime Warranted.That is a nice TOOL 347 Thanks for posting it. Reply #11 – August 19, 2011, 05:41:50 PM I actually bent a Craftsman (junk) wrench when I was pulling an aluminum d/s from a cop 'Vic at the Pick n Pull....Not to get off topic, but I've had several craftsman tools break...numerous sockets have cracked, and their wrenches are shiznit, plain and simple.I bought a 3/8" ratchet from Wal Mart, of all places....it feels solid and clicks "just right" compared to the shiznit I've been getting from sears....think I'll try out some of the sockets from the local Orscheln's store too, as opposed to replacement SMAN shiznit.To the OP...I wouldn't take the d/s out, easier to nick 'er off of there with a whizzer wheel as Renzo suggested.... You truly get what you pay for when it comes to tools. I snapped a kobalt 12mm wrench with a cheater bar trying to remove a driveshaft on one of my mustangs. What The... Reply #14 – August 20, 2011, 10:57:18 PM got it off...although the grinder slipped and hit the driveshaft due to only being able to jack the car up 12". Thankfully I was able to hit the switch fast enough that it was only a glancing blow. I really need a taller jack/stands. Quote Selected
