Frame connectors

Can you use fox mustang frame connectors or do you have to buy ones just for our cars?

No. Mustang floorpans are different, and shorter.
Yes. But expect to pay, and good luck searching, they're not just everywhere...IF anywhere...

Best to take some square steel stock and make your own. There's plenty of folks who've done it. Search gumby, ChuckW, and Daminc...they've all put in sfc's.

In fact, you could've searched subframe connectors and found all this yourself ;) Good luck!

I used a set of tubular bolt on from a Fox Mustang ( don't remember the make ) on my 84 just for S's and G's and they worked some what good.

Are they the proper ones?.......probably not.

Have I used them with slicks?.........No.

Did they make a difference?..........Oh ya.

If they were welded on would they work better?........for sure.

This is just my weekend cruiser so it really doesn't matter.......the Comet is tubed with a full frame so that's all that matters  to me.  LOL

If you want them to look good, in other words not cobbled and hacked up, then you can cut through your floorpans, otherwise, they're pretty noticeable, and may even se or drag if your car is lowered.

I would like to see the Stang sfc on a Fox Bird...our cars have more wheelbase than stangs...thus the subframes are also that much farther apart...got any pics of it?

We've covered this so many times here. Regular Mustang SFCs will not fit a TBird/Cougar.

For a "basic" set, some 1"x2" rect steel tube, or the like, with no bends, about 5' long will work.  You can get all kinds of fancy from there as mentioned.  Take the time and search the site.

Not cheap but I have them on my Bird and Coupe and highly recommend them.  Full length, install to the side of the stock sub-frames which helps with ground clearance, and they are compatible with the Griggs and Maximum Motorsports torque arms.

I bought a set that were made for Fox T-bird/Cougars and they are exactly what Chuck described. They have a bevel on the front so the connector doesn't catch on road debris. Yes they make a difference. The car feels more soild than it ever has.

Do you have any pics of them installed?  I am having a hard time visualizing them on the car.

Mike,

Did not realize I never got back with you on this and I do apologize.  You can see them in this thread about my exhaust on the last page.
