Converts from Cable clutch to hydraulic - Me Want!

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MCL-14-326/?rtype=10

My current clutch is a pain to drive in traffic since first gear is very grabby(From a stop). I could definitely see myself picking one of these up, especially since I am daily driving the beast.

    Any thoughts?

That price will come down, wait till McLeod competitors get a kit together.. only a matter of time.  I like the feel of the cable though, feels like better control than hydro

Ideally you'd be able to buy just components, more particularly, just the slave cyl and related parts. Then you could use stock 87-88 TC pedals and master cylinder...

If you haven't already installed the cable clutch versions...:shakehead:

But definitely a valid point.

If you have not driven an hydraulic style clutch please do so before going this route.  On of my dad's buddies switched his older Mustang out to this (think it was a 70) and hated it.  Converted it over to a cable style and loved it.  I have driven both and in all honesty it depends on the clutch setup as to which one I prefer over the other.

Darren,

Actually, I have driven two cable clutches(My T-Bird 6 cyl and an 01 Toyota Celica 4 Cyl) which both have a pretty heavy feel, and two hydro clutches( 90 Mazda B2200 4 cyl and my 93 F350 Diesel 8 cyl). The Mazda had an extremely light feel that comparatively was a dream in traffic. The F350 clutch, even though it's hydro, "weighs" a ton, much like the cable clutches. The Celica and Mazda had stock clutches, the Thunderbird does not, and I have no idea(Yet) what's in the diesel, but I think it's stock as well. I suppose it's really all about the individual, and I'll have to decide after I fully adjust my T-Bird, but I suspect that short of getting an entirely different style of clutch, hydro would be the way to go.

I hear you man.  I noticed a difference in my Coupe between the RAM HD clutch setup and the FMS King Cobra clutch setup on the cable system.  I noticed no difference in holding power which could be that the car does not make enough or the fact that I never run drag radials or slicks.  What I did notice was a differnce in traffic with the amount of effort in the clutch pedal.  Everyone talks about the effort on the King Cobra and they were not joking but its not enough for me to convert the car to a hydraulic set up.  I tend to prefer a stiffer clutch as for me its more predictable as to the engagement point and slipping it is a bit easier.  I will say that if I owned a hydraulic clutch car I doubt I would run out and convert it to a cable style.  I would just learn the clutch.

Does anyone know if there is a way or something a person can install to change how the hydraulic clutch feels or the amount of effort required on the pedal?  If a person could tune it I would think that would make a lot of difference to a wide range of people.

Hmm, interesting idea there on modulating the hydro. I never thought about that. I don't think my clutch has much longer anyway(Year or two) So maybe I'll hang on until then and switch to hopefully a lighter one!

And, oh by the way...Nice cars! I hadn't seen those before! The T-bird looks real sharp.
