Heat Shielding the bottom half of the stock TC intercooler?

In a my constant quest to over-engineer my car.  I was wondering it would be beneficial to heat wrap my entire intercooler except for the top fins.  My thinking is that less hot air will be able to travel from the turbo and exhaust manifold, and cool air will simply circulate in the intercooler and flow back out instead of traveling completely through.

I actually made a crude picture to show what I am talking about.

I don't think so. You want the intercooler to have as much flow through it as possible, and this would restrict it.

What about a turbo blanket and ceramic coating on the downpipe instead? That'll help keep the heat in the exhaust where it belongs.

Forget the stock unit and fab up a front mount.

Heat tape on the ic would IMHO actually keep more heat in the ic.
