So I may have traction issues

I think I need sticker tires as it appears that I have traction issues on launch ;). I did this over the weekend on a deserted road near my buddies house. Just a drag style launch (i.e. one foot over the brake, one over the gas, release the brake and floor the gas at the same time). Got up to 80 or so at the end of the video. I still think the car needs Trick Flow Twisted Wedge heads and/or a Kenne Bell. My girlfriend thinks it's fast enough as is..... Yes I'm NOT power braking the car. It's chirping the 1-2 shift and fish tailing on launch. I've been telling you guys built AODs are fun. Expensive but fun:D.

I just noticed the camera falls back on the seat when I launched :mullet:.

You've got quite bit of space between the top of your front fenders and tires.....Are your back springs sagging?

Also,  how's your rear suspension geometry?

As far as I can tell the rears aren't sagging. The springs and bushings in the rear are factory original while the shocks are new. I think the car looks like it sits higher because I have 225/55/16s on the Snowflakes instead of the 225/60/16s they came from the factory with. The car didn't seem to sit so high with the factory 14" wheels. My plan over the next year or so is to get a set of Mach 1 springs all around, box the rear control arms, and install poly bushings. I'm also looking at getting an 8.8 out of a cougar XR7 and fitting it with 3.73s, 31 spline axles, a Detroit True-Trac, and quad shocks. In addition when the 8.8 goes in so do battle boxes for the upper and lower control arms. Then I can run slicks and hopefully cure my traction issues;).

Quite frankly I don't think a GT40 5.0 should have enough power to do what my car does. I think it's able to burn the tires like that because the rear dances instead of putting the power to the ground, which is probably saving my 7.5 from certain death....

Pay attention to pinion angle and instant center location while getting all of this together.

LOL oh boy. Start by sticking a decent quality wider tire under there. Even a 245 or 255 might help if they will fit. Can't really expect such a skinny passenger car tire to hook. Mid 14 second cars dont really need all the flair of drag tires and built rear ends but it's your money. Its really not spinning all that hard. I can hear its at the edge of traction. What are you going to do when you start building power with it?

I'm doing the rear axle upgrade/rear suspension upgrade so when I add more power the car will be able to get it to the ground. I figure it's better to upgrade the rear end and suspension before I go adding a bunch of power. Plans after the rear upgrade include Twisted Wedge heads and a supercharger, more than likely a Kenne Bell. It'll need the 8.8 and battle boxes to keep the rear together.

I don't think that's what your intention was with this thread. This is a "look at me" thread. The reality is, It's a mid 14 second car. If you think you have traction issues now i can't imagine you're going to be too happy down the road if you ever do build any power with it.

Christ guys don't start a g match:mullet:.

I wanted to show you guys what the car does and how a built AOD runs. It's not like I can have all you guys over and give each of you a ride so I did the next best thing. I'm sorry if I came off a bit showy.

I know the car is not that fast. I really do. Every time I go to the track I'm the slowest car there. Everyone else runs high 12s at the least. Most cars run mid 11s-mid 12s. I'll work on making some real power after I get the suspension sorted out.

I have no traction either. The Sport will make the rear tires scream for mercy. I will, after the re-re-paint job and seats are done, get a set of drag radials and see how well she'll hook. Still fun though.

Im not starting a pissng contest, I just thought his comment was alittle harsh. I for one think you're doing the right thing. You should build the car to handle the planned HP. You can put a ton of horsepower in our cars but if the car cant handle the power than it not going to run for shiznit and you're going to break stuff. Build the car how you want to.
