Fuel Injector id's,, i knew id find this page again

I thought i was going nuts one day a week or so ago,, i knew it was not safe to just judge an injector by its color only.... this page is a keeper,, post it note marks the page here for me.

i just went out to the "parts o plenty" area of my garage and found my original injectors.  The part numbers dont match but they are 3.8 green tops.  One part number is not even listed,,,-e3ve-ba.

the 5.0 CFI im have on now "had" the EOSE-A2A blue tops in it.

im so embarrassed at the string but it works for me.  Matter of a fact,, i pulled em out today cause i decided to see what happens with the blue tops if i parallel....nevermind

humm,, maybe i'm wrong about mix matched injectors.  perhaps maybe i have two sets of green tops and i have made a boo boo and installed two different part numbers.,, ill check that out tomorrow cause it wont take but 5 min to swap them out.

OK, I thought this thread would stay alive somehow, but it didn't.. so I'll revive it.

Have you devised any alternatives for the string idea, that still function the way you want them to? If not, then the string idea is just fine. (it's just fine, anyway.. whatever gets the car down the road in one piece, right?)

I really want to track down a 5.0 TB one of these days to start making use of the old thread's info. Now that I'm freeing up the exhaust/smog system, (yes I FINALLY removed the smog system pipes, except for the one attached to the Y-pipe.. details later when I can take some pics) I'd like to combine a dual-snorkel intake, K&N filter, 5.0 TB but with the 3.8 injectors and a pressure increase, etc.. to see where it gets me.

Car's now able to do a one-wheel-wonder chirp from a dead stop, straight ahead, (could only do it on a turn before, from a stop) no sand on the road, no neutral-drop or power brake. That's about as close as I've come to something registering on the "ass-o-meter", so far.

So back to the thread.. you're talking about mixing injectors now? A green and a blue? Is that wise? I guess I need to learn a lot more about how the CFI EEC works, before I stop asking stupid questions like "is that wise?". :wtf: I wonder about running the bigger injectors on mine along with the 5.0 TB, but I was under the impression that it would run rich if I put the wrong injectors on.. but I got that impression from discussions of the SEFI setups. Is the EEC for a CFI more tolerant of such things?

i think i need to go edit that post,,, :rollin:
i was about to stick my foot in my mouth but decided not to.

i had no luck with the five o injectors at all.  no combination on the fpr would make the car run happy.  It would run,, just not likely you see me anytime soon with that much black smoke coming out the tail pipe...
oppss did i just say that with my oil issue :flame:

you'll be very surprised the varity of cars out there that had cfi on the v8's.  there seems to be more than i thought.

im pretty sure the one we really want is off a mustang which has even bigger butterflies but thats info on that old post ive since forgotten.

btw,, i priced my 4.2L kit today,, rods pistons and crank.  not a bad deal.

yeah,, threads like these dont have a long life span,, just long enough to get c00ched up by people who are curious enough.

Scott you ain't been running those 5.0 injectors lately have you?? A little fuel can dilute the oil and cause pressure problems.... Does the oil smell like gas??

No sir,, i only tried them once back when i found the five o cfi.  I never used them again.  I test for gas on the dip stick by seeing if the dipstick will light up with a lighter.  If you have gas, the oil will light up fairly easy (on a cold engine just warmed up).  I also do the smell/taste test.
The oil smells, tastes and looks like oil.  I dont have the symtom of my dipstick gradually increasing its oil level on its own like a buddy of mine with a regal.  Im glad i finally got an oil guage,, it makes a decent tool for 14 bux.

As a matter of fact tom,, when i installed the 3.8 injectors on the five o cfi,, i actually had to decrease the fuel presure.  the reason i had to was how i tested it.  I would see how the car acted at wot and how it responded.  I had to pull over, tweek the fpr, romp the gas again until it felt right.  I think now im running about 36psi., forgot.
