Hi I swapped a 351w in a 87 T.C with a Holley 750 DP. I used the bypassing regulator and it chatters just like they said it would with the 5/16 return line.
I am installing thru the floor subframe connectors and relocated the battery to the thunk. So  figure now the time to do the fuel line up grade. I want to keep the in the tank pump has anyone stuffed a 3/8" return in the hole that the 5/16" line is currently?

....like I asked you on SBFT, what regulator are you using and at what pressure is it set?  Who is "they"?

The question still remains has anyone changed the 5/16" return in the sender to a 3/8?  I'm currently at work so I'm on my phone. And can't get on sbft they is holley. And don't have a problem with anything else I just listed what I had done to eliminate any questions on what I did

I assume if Holley told you it would chatter, you must be running their 12-803BP. It comes pre set for 7-71/2 psi if I recall. Try dropping the pressure to 6 psi and see if it makes a difference. If it does quiet the reg down, you'll have to adjust the float level to work with the 6psi setting. The in tank pump will work with a return style reg and a 5/16 line PROVIDING there is no more than a 3lb differential between the pressure and the return. The way to check is to connect the two lines together with a fuel pressure gauge tee. Connect a battery charger and turn the key on to simulate the operating voltage of the pump when running...~13.5-14 volts. IF the gauge reads more than 3 psi, you will need the larger return line which will fit in the place of the 5/16 which has the extra jacket for protection. If you're that deep in the process already, why not just re-do the system now to cover any future modifications?

I run the same reg with the stock dual pump CFI setup in my 84 with good results. If I set the pressure to 7psi I get a light chatter but when I drop it down to 6psi it works perfect. I use 6 psi for all the holley carbs I do.

I just want to know if anyone has ever changed the 5/16" return at the tank all the way in not just adapt to a 3/8" line I know I can do that. I don't want to discuss the chatter of the regulator.

Check on the Mustang boards as the return line on the injected cars is the same size.  Just out of curiosity what pump are you running?

I was told a walbro 255 lph. The car came with it. He gave me the receipt. But now that I've gone over the car real close. The all metal rear quarter he said was there. I lost my balance and fell it into and put my knee through the. Panel of bondo. And he said the car had good heat and AC.  Well there was no heater core some nut job went through all the trouble to pull the dash and loop the lines in the box and install the dash again?  So your guess is as good as mine what I have for a pump. I'll let you know when I drop the tank.

So I dropped the tank literally dropped the tank and a gallon of gas on the asphalt. After I sed up the gas and have one more job to do patch the garage floor :( I can address the pump and tank.
The gasket riped on the fill hole Ive looked a little bit has anyone found one?
I'm looking for a sender the one I got is crusty or I may bead blast it and pressure test the one I have?

(Darren)  And the pump looks factory

Glad you got a way figured out to run the larger return and nice braze welding!  Be sure to let us know the results.

I had a similar dilemma with my carb setup on my 83.  My setup is a Competition Engineering sump on the stock tank, AN-08 lines to the pumps, twin Mallory Comp 140's, and AN-08 lines from the pumps to a "Y" block at the back of the car.  From the "Y" block at the back of the car there is a single AN-08 line that runs to the front of the car.  At the front of the car the single AN-08 line is split back out via another "Y" block with one feed going to the carb regulator and the other to the nitrous regulators (additional fittings to do this but its not important).  I played with several sizes of hose and found that AN-06 and AN-08 would not handle the volume that needed to be returned to the tank.  I ended up drilling out the return line in the plate on the top of my tank and used an AN-10 bulk head fitting.  From there I ran an AN-10 line from the return port on the carb regulator back to the AN-10 bulk head fitting and the problem was solved.  I do realize that the my fuel system is overkill but I was basically setting it up for any motor combination and nitrous combination I wanted to run down the road.  For those that do not know AN-04 is 1/4", AN-06 is 3/8", AN-08 is 1/2", and AN-10 is 5/8".  So basically every 02 is 1/8".

I  was terrified I would melt the pump wiring plug. My buddy's a hvac guy and we used this spray on cool gel and a wet rag and it worked just like it said it would.
I was looking at welding on a sump and going with external pump and -8 supply and return and another buddy who's a local engine builder told me Id be safe up to 650 flywheel HP with the set up I'm running but since we don't know if i have a 190 or 255 lph pump If i get the cash before i reinstall Ill check Vinnies thread on the new 255 lph pump he went with. I don't plan on getting there any time soon. So with the 4 port regulator I hope that I can still put a small 125 shot no2 on their some day. It sound stupid but I don't ever want to go so fast that i need a cage I'm 6'5" 320lbs and I wont be able to climb in the jungle gym. The local track just went to NHRA and I think 12.5 I need 5 point harness and 11.99 I need a cage. I don't have a set of rules but hopefully this summer I can take a trip down the concrete at New England drag way?

Shouldn't need anything except a helmet until 11.50, then you need a bar.
