Never thought I'd say this, but I really want this Mitsubishi....

One of the customers from the shop I used to work at imports right-hand-drive vehicles from puppiesan and has had me do some electrical modifications to make them legal in Canada (anything made or imported after Dec 31 1989 must have daytime running lights). Today he brought me a 1992 Mitsubishi Delica Starwagon. This thing rocks. It's powered by a midships-mounted 2.5 turbodiesel and has 4WD. Real 4WD too, using the hardware from the old Raider/Montero SUV's. 2-hi, 4-hi, 4-lo, and a limited slip rear diff. The thing's got like an 8' wheelbase and the rear seat folds down into a bed. I want this thing for fishing, hunting, and yes, even for my daily slog to work and back (that diesel would get great mileage). It's just so ugly it's cool...

And of course the typical puppiesanese translated to English silliness (why they did this I don't know, since the vehicle was a JDM thing and nobody there would have been able to read it anyway). I'm an all-season outdoor player!

I think it's awesome. Think of what it could do with a boost controller and some other minor mods. I don't think it's ugly when compared to most of the slab-sided, bloated vehicles on the road these days. Dig the driving lights up front, too.

I would love to have an old Starion/Conquest for what it's worth.

A guy in m town had a conquest, well his brother did. He couldn't give it away. He ended up junking up.

ive driven one of those vans, boring and dirt slow, but not one with 4wd and turbo. does that have the 4d55 motor or something else?
didnt even know they made them like that.
if it drives anything like my old 4wd ram 50 did in the snow that thing must kick ass.

Are you feeling ok?
88 Cougar LS 5.0 .030 over, ported E7s with GT40 valves & trickflow springs, Proform roller rockers, HO cam, removed air silencer, K&N filter, smog pump delete, 2.25" dual flowmasters, Pacestter H-pipe & headers, HO computer, 65mm TB, Explorer intake, 19# injecters, 3.45s, rebuilt posi, and TCI shift kit.

This one has the 4D56. Apparently these were sold in USA, but only with a gas engine and 2WD. We never saw 'em in Canada because Mitsubishi did not come here until the very late 90's or early 2000's (any Mitsu's we had before then were badged as Dodge and this particular model was not sold here)...

Looks cool, what's the "conversion" price tag for importing one of those?
1983 Tbird with '03 Split Port V6 motor swap done! Headers, dual exhaust, 500CFM Edelbrock, 3G upgrade, Electric fan. 3.73 Gears and an FRPP Limited Slip. Five lug complete! 5-Speed conversion complete! Standalone Fuel Injection in progress...

I don't think it's possible for Americans, because I think anything imported into the USA has to meet the safety and emissions standards in effect at time of manufacture, and these things don't meet either. Canada is different though - once a car hits 15 years old it can be imported, whether it meets our standards or not. It only needs documentation showing there are no open recalls...

Looks like a strong wind gust would blow it over with its extremely high center of gravity.
'88 'bird, 10.9:1 306 w/TFS top end, forged rods/pistons, T-5 swap & bunch of other stuff, 1-family owned, had it since ‘98, 5.0tbrd88 on Instagram and YouTube
