Todays little project... March 18, 2011, 08:33:17 PM Once upon a time there was a 2000 Cavalier, nice little car ran great. Then the day came when the wife purchased a new Cobalt, and the Cavalier was given to her son to drive to college. A couple years go by, and her son calls and says the car make a grinding noise and stalled. He says it will not restart, he had a mechanic look it over and was told the engine was junk, nothing he could do. So anyway the car sat at his wife's parents house for about a year. The wife kept asking what he was gonna do with it, and he kept saying he didn't know, maybe sell it. So I told the wife to ask him if he would trade it for our old big screen projection tv. Anyway we made the deal and had it towed to our garage and after a couple hours of cussing at the stupid front wheel drive , this is what we found. Quote Selected

Todays little project... Reply #3 – March 18, 2011, 08:50:36 PM I have. I had one snap on my '77 T-Bird. It had a 351W. I heard some BAD noises, the car was done. I had no idea what it was. I tore the front off and there it was....Glad it was fixable. Quote Selected

Todays little project... Reply #5 – March 18, 2011, 09:07:36 PM ...A car for a TV......sounds like you made out like a bandit on that deal, even better that's it's very fixable. I'm with you on the FWD stuff, I just got a '94 Escort for a DD, neat little car, and very very good on gas (almost double my Mark VII) but working on it sucks, to change the #4 spark plug I have to loosen the alternator and slide it back, and remove some hoses and clamps that are bolted to the alt...... I've seen the old "fiber" gears break, but not a chain.
