Clutch cable adjustment? - Fixed - Trans in

So, I'm hoping to get the car in for the 5-Speed swap on Friday, but I just installed the cable and Fiore firewall adjuster and about 1/4" out from the 'wall, it hits the brake booster. I still have the stock mustang quadrant in the car, so, my question is, with an SN-95 cable and the added spacing of the adjuster just off the firewall, the cable should be able to engage the clutch right? The cable only has 60k on it.

With Sn-95 Cable, Fiore firewall adjuster, and the stock 87-93 adjustable quadrant, the cable is just barely long enough to disengage the clutch.

Need to swap booster and quadrant out for better control over pedal free play.

It should be long enough but if you were to replace the booster from the mustang it is smaller around than stock booster you will be able to have full adjustment on your fire wall adjuster.

Cool, I'd like to get the transmission in before I have to work on the brakes anymore. So, Friday morning she's goin' under the knife, so to speak and I should be driving home with a 5-Speed!

An adjustible clutch cable will also do the trick.  They have a threaded rod on the end that goes into the clutch fork.  I see people bad mouth but the one on my Mustang was on the car for over 8 years and not one problem.  I changed it when I had the T-5 rebuilt as the casing on the cable was broke/melted from the headers.  Installed another adjustible unit and I basically set the clutch up the way I want it with the firewall adjuster all the way in that way I have future adjustment as the cable will stretch a little.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

I'll snap some shots after the install, but I'll be lucky if they let me in the shop area - For insurance reasons - Hopefully it won't take too long.

Good news! After thinking on it overnight, the tech figured out the issue and got the adjuster to work, so now it just has enough cable length to fully release the clutch.

the issue is that with a firewall adjuster AND the stock quadrant, the cable is (almost) too short. Using an aftermarket 90 Degree quad, you need more adjustment from the firewall than I can get with the stock booster in the way.

So, I need to remove the stock weight from the '00 trans because it hits my exhaust, and switch the booster out for a stock 93 GT one. Then switch the quadrant over to the aftermarket one and adjust with the Fiore.

Possibly still need a clutch, have to determine the cause of a vibration between 800-1500RPM. Could be warped pressure plate(Unlikely), poorly machined flywheel, or bad harmonic balancer on the front.(Should only have 35k miles on it, but who knows.)

Car is real raw right now. I need to reinstall the console with the boots and get that rattle fixed, but I drove it home!

The tech did mention that those style came stock? On some mustangs, probably the really new ones. I need to do some research.

Pictures! I did use the inner and outer shift boots, but I didn't bother bolting down the inner one, I just shoved the edges under the carpet.:mullet:

Unfortunately, in this application, the stock mustang shifter hits the bezel in 1st, 3rd, and 5th, so....I'm not sure yet, either I'll trim the console, or install a different shifter.

Yes, I did try to shift it with the column shifter once so far! I moved it about a 1/2" and said "wait a minute!"

I am also well aware that my exhaust is hideous, there are more pressing issues right now though.
