My 87 LX Reply #45 – August 04, 2011, 03:21:42 PM Thanks man! The strut towers were chewed all to hell though. Got em all fixed up now and debating on ordering my che control arms next week Quote Selected
My 87 LX Reply #46 – August 04, 2011, 03:32:22 PM I've seen worse strut towers at the yards. Half way gone strut towers. Real nasty stuff. Yours looked pretty fixable. I'm glad you saved it.What color are you going with for the body? I'm guessing the tue-tone thing is going away. Quote Selected
My 87 LX Reply #47 – August 04, 2011, 08:03:15 PM I think I'm gonna paint it black and hit it with a nice dark red pearl. Depending on all the little body mods I do, I might do some satin black accenting Quote Selected
My 87 LX Reply #48 – August 06, 2011, 10:01:34 AM It's comming along nicely! I wish I could do all my own work but I can't. I can do some stuff but not the major stuff. Of course if I keep stripping cars I might get better at it. I have a tubular k-member for mine hanging in my garage for mine eventually. You might remember it, I bought it and alot of other parts from Brooks, 1nasty86tbird, I think that's what he went by. Quote Selected
My 87 LX Reply #49 – August 06, 2011, 02:01:46 PM The work is easy if you have a car that hasnt been sitting in the elements for 20+ years.. this car has sat about 15 of its 23 years. But... being that it is 20+ years old you get into well, while its out I can fix this...and this....and this... OH and this and this kind of moments everything under this car is going to be brand new or re-conditioned. Not gonna lie, I started stripping it to do all this work to it and got highly overwhelmed, but I pressed on through it and now I sit back and kinda laugh at the fact Im alot further than I thought. The only thing that is holding me back from working on it right now is the lack of fundage and the heat. I have alot of welding to do under her and its to bloody hot to be welding upside down without a welding jacket on for me right now. Im stockpiling parts right now anyway. Hoping that when fall comes or it starts cooling down alot more I can have a bunch of new parts to throw at her and be able to have it sitting on the ground before winter hits all undercoated, CHE arms in and start running brake lines and such. Possibly even have the new motor in for test fits and building the new tranny xmember to clear my exhaust. I probably wont touch it at all this winter just order parts all winter so when the weather breaks I can just have a major parts party and hopefully have the old girl back out of the garage under her own power.Hopefully when all is said and done, she will be able to be driven anywhere (if weather permits) stop, steer, and genuinely out perform some of its counterparts on the street. My 87 LX Reply #50 – August 30, 2011, 01:18:52 PM Big but small update I got the subframe connectors welded in and the torque box reinforcements installed. I also got the underside all cleaned up and undercoated. I cut the underside tank mounts out cause they were all rustified... and Im running a cell anyway I think shes looking real good. All Im waiting on now is the cash to buy my CHE parts to have the rear end back in under her. After the rear is back under her and all situated Im going to focus on the brakes and shocks. Hopefully before winter I can have the car on the ground and HOPEFULLY have the 302/t5 in it for trial fits and get all my fitment issues with the exhaust figured out. Thanks for checking in!Clayton Quote Selected
My 87 LX Reply #51 – September 11, 2011, 07:45:46 PM Progress update: I finally got ahold of a GT front swaybar got it all cleaned up painted and installed with poly bushings. The front is almost done now aside from finishing the brakes and getting the steering rack installed (waiting on bushings). I ordered my CHE uppers and lowers on the 30th.... Im still waiting on them... But it gives me the chance to get the spings painted up and ready to go in. Yesterday I ordered the drag bags for it hopefully they'll help the old girl hook up like I want. FWIW by the time the first flake falls she should be sitting on all 4's and have the brakes all plumbed. Its all comming together really nicely. Quote Selected

My 87 LX Reply #54 – September 20, 2011, 05:47:49 PM Now to play the waiting game... I ordered my CHE arms on the 30th of last month and still dont have them. I called the guys and asked em what was up 2 weeks ago... they said they would be shipped somtime that week.. Still no dice. I havent been able to get ahold of them since. I duno about you guys but $375 worth of parts sitting somewhere other than in my garage has me a little preterbed especially when its been 4 weeks since I placed the order.Just fuming. other than that I got my drag bags in, and I got the steering rack mocked up now so e should be ready to roll soon as the shipment from CHE comes in. My 87 LX Reply #55 – September 20, 2011, 06:04:06 PM I've heard that CHE often takes quite some time to ship. I was lucky and got my brand new CHE's on Ebay for super wicked cheap. Quote Selected
My 87 LX Reply #56 – October 27, 2011, 05:33:12 PM just wanted to give you all an update. The car hasnt been touched since I undercoated it due to lack of fundage. Also... CHE still hasnt shipped my parts, they wont answer their phones nothing. its really irkin' me you'd think a company with that good of a reputatiton would atleast let you have some light on the subject. I ordered the parts August 30th..Anywho take it easy all Quote Selected
My 87 LX Reply #57 – October 28, 2011, 12:19:26 AM I can't blame you for being upset. I know I would be. That's a long time to wait on parts and to not be able to get a hold of them makes it even worse. Good luck man, I hope they get thier act together and get them to you soon. Quote Selected
