Saw something that broke my heart yesterday...

Was driving home in the snowstorm yesterday and saw something that made me sick: A mint 20th Cougar driving in it! This car formerly belonged to one of our members (87anniv). He sold it last summer, and it appears the new owner does't appreciate it much...

...Which reminds me - I also saw my beloved 88 Bird driving on salty roads a few weeks ago. I could've bit the steering wheel of my 300 right off the hub when I saw it covered in salt...

I really hate to say it but thats what happens when you pour your effort into something then sell it.

True enough, but I suppose the real lesson here is to pick the right car before pouring the effort in...

Sometimes you have no choice. I drive my wife's 65 fury in the snow and salt. I get harassed by people all the time "how could you drive that classic in this weather!?" My answer is- "Do you wanna buy it? Save it from the salt? No? I didn't think so." Nobody wants this car. I can't give it away. I've had it priced as low as $1200 and nobody will take it. Where are you going to find a car that needs nothing major for $1200?... Nobody wants it, so, I drive it.

Sorry to rant- this just drives me crazy.

Some people cant afford more then one car. I drove my car in the snow this year, it wasn't that I don't appreciate my car. It's because I hit hard times and a deer and it totalled my Explorer. You gotta do what you gotta do.

The Sport is a daily driver,no matter what the weather. Luckily,we don't have salt on the roads, only sand, and ice is only frozen water,so,it'll melt. She seems to do just fine.

OMG he sold it!!?? Had no idea.  That's just awful, I would have to say the thing is ruined by now. Once it gets in those  front subframes, it's over. There's no going back. I dunno. Sure can't blame him though, I'm sure he needed the money and it was there, so that's all she wrote.

There was one listed in syracuse, 2 hours west of me, in the fall. That listing has been gone, I wonder if it's meeting the same fate..  I'll save my rant about pretty much the two stupid things I did this year that ruined my plan to save one of those perfect cars. I'm so  angry right now, though. That's the problem, they're nice cars at a good price now so someone's getting a  good value for a daily car that will get ruined. Hopefully this year I'll make it happen. Hopefully I find another one for sale.

Doesn't bug me at all. I bought my car to drive it, and get me from point a to point b. Not just to look at it. It would be nice to have a garage to park a car, but I really wouldn't treat it much different. Just fix the oil leaks and things like that when they come up.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

My friends think I'm crazy because I bought a brand new car and I'm still letting a 23 year old T-bird sit in the garage all winter.....

Meh. Buy a Mustang. When it rusts away, and falls to shiznit around your ankles, there's your 5.0HO and trans, wheels, and seat.

I don't have to worry about....mine will probably never run again. Thinking about selling it. There's a nice 2005 Civic Si for sale just down the road....taxes are coming in too. Hmm.

/sarcasm. ;)

Meh, mother-eff that turd, lol

OF course, I'm also considering picking up a '93 vert Stang, with a swapped in carb 5.0...not to donate parts to OR from a Tbird...guy wants more than what I want to pay though, and my heart lies with the wings of a 'Bird, not the gallumping of a Belly-Button. lmao
