Cup Holder Installtion Help

So I recently bought one of these cup holders:

And I went to install it into the car, but it will not fit anywhere. Pictures in my car:

and

Now I know in the thread where I bought it:

Now of course it's getting dark out, but it does not appear that the heater controls I have are going to fit in the top slot. I tried to get a picture of it, but it didn't work all that great. Can any confirm that it will actually fit in the small small opening underneath the HVAC duct? Or do I have to convert it over to the rotary style in order to be able to do this?

The climate controls won't be easy to move, even if you could make them fit.

Are you wanting to install a stereo along with the cup holder?  Have you tried test fitting that to the bezel?

No the stock stereo is staying. I just took it out so I could see the HVAC controls and such in order to try and find a plausible solution to this.

I tried to see if it would fit in the bottom slot also, but then realized it wont be able to come out enough for the cup opening.  Is the rotary unit small in length? Is that how DAMINC did his? Hopefully he'll chime in.

I think the rotary unit is smaller and thats how it fits in the top slot. Looking at the picture, it looks like that's how his is done.

And btw, what they were saying about it sticking out to far when the shifter is in park is a suck situation, but its not that bad cause Neutral + parking brake = Park. Car stays put and turns back on either way. That way if you have something there but have to make a stop you're good to go. That's a little solution I just came up with for you cause I like to point out the obvious.:p

Unless you use park on the tranny, and only set the rusty park brake for inspection. Sometimes it just likes to go snap.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

Yup, mine doesn't work. A famly friend did someone that when you push it down it makes it seem like it works, but it really doesn't.
