drag tires?

i found a set of nitto nt555 on white pony wheels on craigslist they look to be pretty wore but they should have a few passes on them. the guy wants 75 is it worth it? i always wanted to run my car down the strip but never had the chance and i was wondering if these would be better then my bfg radial t/a's on the strip?

The NT555 are better than regular street tires, but if you need something to hook, save the $75 and wait for a set of MT Drag Radails, it'll be more money but far better spent!

I use the NT555's for the street. They are far safer than regular street tires (less tendency to go sideways on a power shift). Track use not so much. If I go to the track, I swap to the MT DR's. They are an incredible track tire.

i found a pair of slicks there on 10 hole wheels and he wants 200 i dont have that much power but it dose have enought to kick it sideway from a dead stop

Keep in mind that running slicks requires long studs and a driveshaft loop

oh ok i didnt know that thanks i might just go with the nt555 and if they dont make it to the track ill tkae them with me in may to ocean city for crusing weekend and burn them off

I use to run 28 by 10.5 on stock 10 holes with no probs on my 85
Here is a good pic of how well they fit.

ok well my car is an 87 and i have a mustang 8.8 in so with the right wheel i can get a little fatter tire in there

28/10.5 is about as big as you can go.
I run 28/11.5 on my wifes 85 stang

Do you run bias ply tires up fron as well? I've been advised that mis-matching them with a radial is a no-no....

Ive run both bias and radials on the front with the quick time pros. The radials handle a whole lot better on the street. The car sees limited street time (less than 500 miles a year) so im not super worried. Also, its pretty much a drag car with an inspection sticker.

It can be a pretty scary ride when they're mixed! The dramatic difference in side wall stiffness (or lack thereof for the bias ply) can lead to control issues.
