Electrical harness question?

I was wondering can you plug a 86 front harness (for the 5.0 injection and headlights) into a 87/88 dash. I know they come in two pieces and was wondering if thats possible.

I think so its been so long since I messed with a FI tbird. I know theres 2 round connectors that I think are for the FI but im not sure about the headlight harness.

I'm sure it can be spliced, but it is only plug and play with the same year engine harness and car/dash connector. The engine harnesses from 86-88 should all interchange when it comes to the fuel injection harness on the motor, which are the white and black, salt and pepper shakers, but not to the round connectors which connect to the dash.

Hmmm well I guess i'll have to go to plan A again or I could modify a 87/88 one for use in a 4I car but i'd rather not lol.

What do you have, and what are you trying to install? This may simplify the equation..

For example I have a 1988 thunderbird which originally came with a 3.8l v6. I bought a 1987 thunderbird with a 5.0 for parts, complete to swap the drivetrain. Everything swapped out, the harness out of the 87 didn't plug to the 88 dash harness on the drivers side strut tower. I had to find a 1988 thunderbird/cougar 5.0 engine harness for it to be plug and play. THe 88 harness plugged right into the 87 fuel injection harness on the motor and it was fine. I did have to modify the alt. harness, it was different, but that was no problem. Just cut the plug and did a little soldering, nothing too too complex.

Well see I am planning on putting a COMPLETE tbird interior into an 86 GT/RS (not sure which yet) and I need to use a tbird harness. Its just way to complicated to cut and splice stuff into a stang harness. I want to keep it FI so I would need a 86 5.0 tbird/cougar wiring harness (cause of the headlights) but my problem is finding a 86 tbird/cougar parts car that has digital gauges and the digital climate control. So my next idea was to use an 87/88 one cause they're more abundant with those options. So I guess what I should have put is how hard would it be to setup an 87/88 harness to work with the four headlight setup.

Sorry this is so confusing lol.
