Are These Cars Getting Rare Yet?

Maybe it just me, but I'm seeing fewer of these cars on the road and it seems like they've really disappeared over the last couple of years.

I regularly browse craigslist and it seems the selection is way down.

I went to my favorite Pick-n-Pull last week and I counted 12 MN12 cars and 0 Fox cars.

Anyone else seeing this?

I live down south and they seem to be rare here always.

I have seen (including JY cars) < 20 fox birds or cougars. Ever.

And it does seem like there's less. I do believe your right. I think its b/c JYs are so  crush happy.

That's pretty much the norm for any 20+ year old car, they ain't making them any more you know... Most states offer collector/vintage/antique plates at 25 years, some earlier... A few states offer collector plates for limited editions such as the Ford GT, Marauder etc, regardless of year...

BTW I went down this same road back in '88-'89 when I restored my '69 Fairlane Cobra Jet, if I had not already saved the parts I needed, I'd have been SOL as there was practically nothing in the junk yards..

it's a shame, but they are becoming far and few between.. when i had my cougar and bird, parts were everywhere to be found in any junkyard in my area.. now there's only 1 yard that seems to have any, but they never have less than 5

They've been rare here for 10 years.  Cash for clunkers didn't help either.
"lol.. because not too many people care for that style of car"

Around here it seems they are driven until the weheels fall off, because the few driving around town look like , and the ones in the yards should just be smashed... Nothing useful in them anyways...

I'm still kicking myself for passing up an 88 tbird lx I saw in Lancasater for $700....

It would have made a great DD while I restored my first one :/

There's a massive LKQ yard here in Tampa, and the last time I went for Explorer parts, there were 2 fox birds. One 83-86 cougar and bird each. And these had pretty good interiors, etc...had good luck with the explorer though. :)

I remember going to that one when I lived there.(Around Palm river road/78th st. area?? Used to be called Cophers U pull it?)  That place is massive. There used to be quite a few fox cars there. When I had my first 20th, and wrecked it, I got all the parts from them. Some of the guys  that work(ed) there were assholes though.
