Luck might be turning!

In the last month my cougar caught on fire, I hit a deer and totaled my Explorer, and I got layed off.:punchballs:
But I was able to fix the cougar (burnt up ignation switch) and today I found out that my wife is pregnant with our second kid.;) It's bad timing but I'll make it happen. I might join the army. I know the service sucks for a family man but hopefully they'll understand that I have to do what I have to do to provide for my family.

I was military. It was good to me. Yes,it can be very hard on a family. I went to the Persian Gulf for 14 months. Not a great time in my life, but, Uncle Sam said to go. I'd go Army or Air Force. Get an education and let the U.S pay for it. You might like it and want to make a career of it. No telling, but like you said, you have to take care of the family.

family first, you've gotta do what you've gotta do.. a good career oppertunity right now is getting your CDL and driving a truck.. IF the state will pay for your training and test.. here in jersey they do if you're on unemployment.. my shop partner did it so he had a backup plan.. he's thinking about getting a job for a local company that pays 60k a year starting

More good news. I took my GED assessment test today and scored very well. I was told that I did'nt have to take any refresher classes and that they would pay for me to take the GED test.

Congrats and good luck man.  Military life is tough, but any sacrifice you make for your family is worth it.  The commercial truck driving field is tough right now, at least in PA.  Most places wont hire without 2yrs of experience due to so many out of work drivers.  The employers can pick the cream of the crop so to speak.

Just a little update. My GED is going very well. I just took the last test yesterday. So far I have an 800 in Reading, a 730 in Social Studies, a 680 in Science, and a 530 in Math. I might have a score on my writing test tomorrow. You have to have at least a 2250 to pass the GED and so far I have a 2740. A friend of mine is a Captain in the navy, he is going to write me a letter of recommendation. I hope that and testing well on my GED will help me join the Army.
