Yes, I'm an air show junkie. Here are the pics. (Nellis AFB, Las Vegas show)

Here are some pics from yesterday at the air show.  I went Saturday too, but just sat with my wife in the Predator booth her squadron runs every year.

This year they had a combat search and rescue simulation that was pretty sweet.

There was snipers on the corners of the roof of the Thunderbird's hanger (red, white and blue building) this year which was pretty odd.

Even though the Thunderbirds are amazing, the plane that always just stuns me is the F22 Raptor.  The way F22s move just seems to be unreal.  Pictures just don't do it justice.  If you have never seen one in action, check out this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFM8FHR56PY

On to the pics....

That's awesome!  I didn't know they did that.  I'm about halfway through watching the PBS documentary Carrier that was filmed on the Nimitz.  That is one amazing ship/city.

The "Lead sled". I always did like the phantoms. I was a crew chief on the KC-135R Stratotankers. I miss that jet. After 4 years with it during my 5 years in the A.F.,I knew that jet I was assigned to as well as I know the Sport now.

I lived so close to the Niagara Falls AB,, that I could see the planes light'em up on the runway from my bedroom window.... Watched f4,  f14, f15. and f16s all day long when I was young... they also had apache's and stealth's for a while, right before Desert Storm
f-15s were my favorite... Now they only home the c-130s..... all those transports that were in the war came from that base....I remember once that a shute didn't open off a c130 during a drop exercise.. sounded like a bomb went off....Tons of firewood scattered all over the runway.... every once in a while f-22s will fly over my house on Grand Island on they're way to the base. Now all I see are border patrol choppers all the time..lol

edit:
I also forgot the c-5 that was there too... big ass plane. blocked the sun when it came and went..lol

Did they break the sound barrier often? That's always neat.

There is supposed to be a bunch of C-17s and C-130s flying around today here for some big training exercise out in the desert.  We have F-15s, F-16s (including the Thunderbirds) and F-22s stationed here in Vegas but I have never seen or heard anything break the sound barrier.  I think it's discouraged in urban areas.  Back when I lived in Kansas, we had B-1 bombers stationed at Mcconnell there and they were pretty loud.  They have moved on though and there is pretty much only KC-135s there now.

We joked about painting the TC in a Thunderbirds color scheme and having pictures taken with them and stuff, but it would be cool to have some pics of nice Thunderbirds with the jets.

Awesome F-4 pics Kitz Kat!
