New member.... well, sort of

So I guess it's time to quit being a stalker and actually post something. I promised Thunder Chicken I would when he got the site back up. :bowdown:Bravo by the way! I've been a T-bird (etc) nut for over 20 years now. I've had a 77 bird, 78 bird, 78 Diamond Jubilee, (I know---not fox bodies), 85 and 86 mark VII's and two 88 Cougars. The first one had an accident with a tree, a chainsaw, and an ill timed gust of wind... I picked up another with really low miles that needed only parts that I had on the recently crushed one. Got it all put together and then collected a deer. Luckily I still had the crushed car and the front end was all intact. I spent the last 2 years or so reading posts from this site to put the car where I wanted it. Mainly I've upgraded the suspension and interior. Mark VII/Cobra brakes, tubular control arms, sway bars, etc underneath. Handles like a dream. Just finished fixing up the interior with a new dash cap, XR-7 bezels, and a few other things. It's getting there, but is by no means done. Time to start sharing the experiences with others that may have the same questions that I have run into. Glad to be a part of this group.......

OK, here are some pics..... I have to admit, I'm not much on capturing the moment with a camera. That's my wife's job normally, and she doesn't think too much of cars. So this is what I could find......

The day I brought the new one home (to replace the tree incident car) 54,000 miles and in pretty good condition. Well, except the ridiculous fake convertible top.....

This one is after taking out a seven-point buck @ about 45 mph.... It could have been much worse. Insurance compnay totalled it and I bought it back for $300.

After removing all the damaged parts....

The "before" dashboard picture.....

After new dash cap, tripminder, non-melted steering wheel, bezels, console, and floor shift conversion.....

And what it looks like today sitting in the driveway (in the rain - it normally isn't this shiny) A couple body items to take car of and it will be painted... eventually.......

So which car is it?  Was the carriage roof car just a donor for parts?

Manual windows, dont see that very often.  Cool.

The carriage roof car is the one I am driving now. I dropped a tree on my first one. Damage was too much to warrant fixing it. It became the parts car for this one. I kind of like the manual windows... They always work! :D

Thanks everyone for the welcome and the compliments. I added another car to my collection this weekend. Picked up Mayhem's 88 XR-7. Plenty of parts there for me to eventually finish mine off. Other projects in front of that though :(
