I'm probably going to go with something along the likes of these two:

Not bad conisidering both are p/s's of my other pix

ABSOLUTE NO TO THE BOTTOM PICTURE!

The upper picture they need to be lowered to look right.

I say you are allowed ONE Cougar nameplate of your choice and that's it!:beatyoass:

The upper picture they both need to be lowered to look right. The Cougar nameplate also needs to move left with the same spacing from the decklid opening as the Mercury nameplate.

I have to ask.......why the obsession with badges and emblems? Like stated above, with these cars, less is more. These cars just don't except those things well.

why add more to something that's overdone from the factory. It's not like someone can't tell what kind of car it is from the back... They took care of that with the backup lights at ford. I pulled mine off and it looked better instantly

if you want anything on there... Just put a Mercury badge on the corner of the trunk, and call it a decade

I agree with the others.  All the extra badges make your otherwise nice looking car tacky.

Badges are not for people to know what it is, Its for having pride in what it is.

You just don't understand...

I understand what you're saying.I really do. BUT (there's always a "BUT").....I think what myself, and most others are saying is, you can be proud, and show pride, but even with that, one can go a little far and defeat the purpose. No-one is slamming you (not that you thought we did), we're just trying to help you. Sometimes we got into what we're doing and thinking so hard that we can't really see the big picture. It's like some of those cars we've all seen that have the bumper stickers all over it. The owner is making a statement, but there are times when the statement being given is over shadowed by the way it is presented. As I stated,in the end, it is your car and it has to be your decision. With that being said, also remember, on this forum, you'll most likely get an honest opinion from nearly every member, and take the opinions as such....just opinions. We're all here to help each other, even if it feels like an intervention. No hard feelings are meant by anyone, and sometimes,we need to hear the truth. When I do work on my car and post pics, I want to hear every opinion, good or bad. There are times when I need those opinions to make a good choice. If a couple disagree with my idea,so what. If everyone does, there may just be something to it. The love is still strong (brotherly love, not that prison love stuff ).

I agree 100% with what Vinnie said .

I actually started to do something  ridiculous to my car as a joke yesterday just to get some reactions , but the site was giving me fits.  :punchballs:

I started work today. I removed the old emblem and sed all the  glue off the trunk, and I sanded forever trying to get all that fixed.

Next I have to remove the two on the other side and se and sand them down.

Then I am going to have to repaint at least the rear of the trunk for now. I am going to position everything in place and get them lined up right.

I have made up my mind where I want to place the "cougar" and its in place with scotch tape right now. I still have to get out there and level and straightedge the letters to get them all right. Then I will put the other side in place. Then I am going to scotch tape the letters to hold them together in the right configuration, and glue them on, and then glue the other side.

I am going with a configuration very similar to the 4th picture I put up. Its a little lower and farther in.

It definitely looks much better in person than on the pics. I don't know why but they really make it look bad. It doesn't look as bad on the car. Afrter I get them in place I'll take some more pics with better detail.

Remove everything and start bodywork and prep for new paint. Maaco can get you going for cheap, and it'll be pretty nice for a few years if you take care of it.

Macco would probably do a better job than I. I have no experience doing body work other than sanding down paint. I'm gonna get it painted professionally by a body shop down the road when the time comes. I've seen their work and its immaculate. They're pricey though.

(real paint) will probably be the last thing I do to this car. Its best to hold off on that while mechanical stuff and other things are going on, since there is such a higher chance of destroying your $3000 paint job.....
