For all you guys with 255 air conditioning

...like myself. I got this in an e-mail awhile back. Looks like I'm clear, at least in the coug:

My car book says to roll down the windows to let out all the hot air before turning on A/C.

WHY ???????????

Car Air-conditioning -

No  wonder more folks are dying from cancer than ever before.  We wonder  where this stuff comes from but here is an example that explains a lot  of the cancer causing incidents.

Many people are in their cars first thing in the morning and the last thing at night, 7 days a week.

As  I read this, it makes me feel guilty and ill.  Please pass this on to  as many people as possible.  Guess its not too late to make some  changes.

Please do NOT turn on A/C as soon as you enter the car.

Open the windows after you enter your car and then turn ON the AC after a couple of minutes.

Here's why:
According to research, the car dashboard, seats, air freshener emit Benzene, a Cancer causing toxin (carcinogen -  take time to observe the smell of heated plastic in your car).

In  addition to causing cancer, Benzene poisons your bones, causes anemia  and reduces white blood cells. Prolonged exposure will cause Leukemia,  increasing the risk of cancer. Can also cause miscarriage.

Acceptable  Benzene level indoors is 50mg per sq.ft.  A car parked indoors with  windows closed will contain 400-800 mg of Benzene.

If parked  outdoors under the sun at a temperature above 60 degrees F, the Benzene  level goes up to 2000-4000 mg,  40 times the acceptable level.

People who get into the car, keeping windows closed will inevitably inhale, in quick succession, excessive amounts of the toxin.

Benzene  is a toxin that affects your kidney and liver.. What's worse, it is  extremely difficult for your body to expel this toxic stuff.

So friends, please open the windows and door of your car - give time for interior to air out -dispel the  deadly stuff - before you enter.

Thought: 'When someone shares  something of value with you and you benefit from it, you have a moral  obligation to share it with others.'

This is what  snopes.com
says.  It is not the air conditioning in the car but the Benzene producing agents that cause

I always leave my windows down a couple of inches.I'm also cancer free. I'm not looking too deep into the a/c thing. When I get in the Sport in another week (after the a/c is done),I'm turning it on as soon as I turn the key.......I live on the edge like that.

99% of all Americans must have cancer about right now (if they own a car that gets hot) LOL.

Exhaust fumes,gas fumes,burning rubber,noise,the sun,foods we eat,air around us, water,chemicals in everything we use,foods we eat,radio waves,micraowave ovens,cell phones.........

......we're just doomed I suppose.LOL.

We need to go back 40 years ago or so. My parents didn't know all that they know now about all those crazy harmful things that all these "groups" talk about now,and they're alive and doing fine, and so am I.Yes,concern is good, but people get really dramatic about it. Common sense goes a long way when it comes to all of that ..

I used to ride my bike with no helmet or protective gear, listen to loud music, eat REAL butter on my foods, sugar coated cereal, and soda made with real sugar.I still have my teeth, and pas every physical with flying colors.

Hmmmmm, what else can kill us without us even knowing? I can't wait to find out.LOL.LOL.

FYI Living causes death!

I end up in countless arguments with people over all the paranoia that goes around. People were way better off using aerosols, driving gas guzzling muscle cars with no exhaust systems, no seat belt, no air bags and way less technology. Yeah it can be a great thing but back in the day people used to actually be allowed to have fun!

This is why I have a 6 month old who knows what food and dirt both taste like ;) She'll fall down, get cuts and bruises, maybe get in a fight or 2, not dress like a little slut and above all else enjoy being a kid! Sure she should wash her hands but who here hasn't eaten a pizza or sub with their hands covered in oil? Or even McDonald's Fries for that matter which are quite possibly the best grease remover ever!

I'm not saying we haven't learned some good things over time, but the doomsday we're all gonna die mentality is just depressing!

I'll stop ranting now, lol

I think 2012 will go over like 1999 to 2000 did........just another day. I don't worry about yesterday,it's gone.Tomorrow isn't here,so,nothing I can do about that.That leaves today to think about.

Nobody gets out of life alive...I'm gonna live like tomorrow is just a dream, yesterday is old news, and today is soon over.

In short, don't worry, and do something. ;)

I remember the first time I let my wife's older boy ride in the front seat. She was miffed that I had let him ride in the front, without a booster seat, and the boy was seven years old, at the time.

Now, we're going over the same disagreement with her younger boy, for the past year, who just turned eight.

"It's not safe ..." is her side of the disagreement.

"Well, look at the crash data for the 'underbird. Driver's side is 5-star and the passenger's side is 5-star. The left rear is 3-star, so he's safer, honey."

I grew up riding shotgun in a Pinto, (big ass, old school) Chrysler New Yorker, '70 Plymouth Challenger, '70 Boss 302 Mustang, every car my Dad ever owned. I turned out just fine.

Shoot, I remember riding in the carbon-monoxide seat of my uncle's '80-something Chevy Celebrity wagon

Or sitting sideways in the back of an old 4-door with your back against the door (my dad fell out like that when the door popped open!)

Or sitting in the sideways seats in the back of an old station wagon with the back window down (inhaling all of the exhaust)

Or being a toddler sitting on your dad's lap steering the car on the highway!

Oh the good ol' days!

Yeah I'm gonna be the "unsafe" person. I'm not dead, my parents who had even less safety laws aren't dead (did they even have carseats then?) and so on. I remember sleeping in the car any way BUT the right way on road trips when I was a kid, hell even around town. I still don't ever sit in a car the right way, even when I'm driving.

I mean if you really wanna be picky I'm 1" taller than the "you should be in a booster seat" height. I refuse to own a car with airbags unless I remove them. And hell when I was little my carseat was in the front seat so my mom could give me stuff I dropped and not have to listen to a screaming baby, thanks to the lack of airbags. It's pretty bad when the mandatory "safety devices" installed in cars are only safe for MOST of the population...
