I'm trying to make funds to have the a/c finished up at the shop and have my initial investment back in the bank.Thatw ay,I'm building with the profits, not my money. I have to do that, every penny of the Sport's build came from anywhere but my paycheck.

Kind of unfortunate for those who are interested in those units to actually use (I already have a NOS one). They'll have to pay about double when this thing hits eBay.

On that post,I have to say this. Buying low and selling higher is what ANY business does. That's how they make a profit and can continue what they do. If it weren't for selling parts, my Thunderbird could not have happened. How many stores do you walk into, and tell the manager that it's unfortunate that they actually make a profit on what they sell. Have you ever sold any parts here, on Ebay or anywhere else? What's the point if you can't make any money? Otherwise, we could all just donate what we all have for shipping. Anyone could've emailed this guy and made the deal. When I called him, he stated he had nobody interested in it when he tried to sell it before. All a person has to do is buy it if they wanted it. No-one bought it.....until I did. Because I was first doesn't mean I'm taking advantage. It means I showed interest and followed through with the purchase. I am more than fair when I sell any of my parts here. Ask anyone I've done business with. I even "donate" parts quite often to help fellow members out, as they do for me. It's business...no more, no less.

Hey Vinnie I'm not really looking for an argument, but what I said was my opinion and I should be entitled to it. It could be right or could be wrong. There are people that would have paid that price to install the unit in their car and enjoy it, but now interested parties have to pay more because someone else beat them and used it as an opportunity. It's just that simple.

No, I'm not in the parts business but after seeing some of your deals, I'm certainly interested!

I just checked eBay and seen you sold one on eBay, a few months ago, for $250. I'm guessing you'll have under 125 in this thing since it was listed at 100 and 25 should be more than enough for S/H. So that's where my math comes from.

Vinnie, are you operating a licensed business?  A difference I see with your example is this item was made to the public, by an end-user, and not exactly how traditional stores operate.

Matter of fact, I emailed the user to inquire about it for my other TC. I don't know when you called, but I know the time stamp on my email is sooner than when you replied to this thread when you first responded. Perhaps you called before my email, or perhaps the user doesn't check his email regularly. Who knows. I won't lose sleep over it, but I think stating an opinion, in a decent matter, should be acceptable.

Good luck.

I agree with you, that your opinion should be acceptable, and to me,it is. We apparently disagree, but,I respect your opinion and appreciate what you're saying.I have no hard feelings, and I understand what you're saying. My side is,as I stated, when I sell parts,THAT,and that alone pays for my car because I don't take one cent from my paycheck to work on my car, so,buying and selling parts is it. I have sold the last speedo I had for $250,but,I gave more than a hundred bucks for it. You can't assume that because I bought one today for that, each one is the same cost. Usually I pay around $150 or so for them. My profit margin isn't usually that big after shipping is said and done.Usually I offer free shipping,so,that also narrows my margin of profit. I haven't even figured in the cost of posting the item for sale on Ebay, plus the 9% they take. It all adds up.

In the end,I don't take what you and I have stated as an argument, just a sharing of opinions, albeit different opinions, which there is no harm in. I do appreciate your side of it,and what you have to say. It's all good.

If I would have had the $100 I would have bought it to re-sell.

Interesting arguments - my opinion, JeremyT is right ONLY on the fact that this was posted in the parts leads forum on a website devoted to people who have these cars and would like to purchase such parts for their own cars. If this was listed anywhere else, fine, but being that someone on this very site may have been looking for such a part without paying the ridiculous prices that these things normally for, buying to resell for profit (likely in this very community) an item that someone else found is a bit tactless.

I don't see the fascination with these things though - it won't make my car go any faster or look any better :p Why do people want these again?

It would seem a bit to me the community being used against each other. So many people would have wanted this part for their own car, but now someone will have to pay higher price, on an item already expensive, just because there is an opportunity for profit.

Vinnie stated that the seller stated the item was a hard sell, but that was purely due to being on CL as so many people don't know that you can search global. Had this part been on eBay, the seller could have easily moved this item. CL is largely confined to those local to you. This was not a part that nobody wanted, but so few knew it was on the market.

Honestly, it is hard to fault Vinnie as we all need to make a living, but it still strikes me a bit less than great. When someone normally has parts for sale, the parts were previously owned by the seller and they're moving it for whatever reason. They may make some, they may lose some. But this case is a bit different as it was used as an opportunity for profit at the expensive of those interested.

As far as the speedo, it's always been that way. They can electrically be modified to convert a stock 85 to a 140, but the face plates need to be redone in quality and I'm not sure that currently, or previously, exists.

I do apologize to Vinnie as I forgot about the generous fee that eBay collects. And I respect Vinnie for not going off on an opinion/observation that I probably should have kept to myself.
