Well the last few weeks if you guys havent noticed i havent been on much, I put pony rims on the bird and am having some fun with the guys in town now that we all decided to start a real club of.... well pretty much anyone with a car...lol. After a speeding ticket, a convinced prosecuting attorney, and some money spent on junk, im back.

BUT. Ive decided to drop the H.O. in a lighter body.... As my good buddy said the other night, " You'll never beat me no matter how big the engine is because you're too heavy, and when you do beat me, ill tear my car down, rebuild, and beat you again"-- words of a true friend.

SOOO, Im going to keep the Tbird in good shape, with my engine, possibly put some stuff on it for a few giggles, and get another roller for the larger engine... so here is what ive found

Choice # 1-- No pictures but my friend a fox body stang for 300 and for 500 he'll throw in a 9 inch posi-trac 3.73 rear end. Cody has a C4 he wants rid of and walah, my engine and its running! does need some TLC on the interior.....ummm...there is none.

Why bother swapping cars for a 200 pound drop in weight. The added expense could easily be put into an engine and easily out perform a stock mustang. The 83-86's are lighter, generally, but that is only because of fewer standard options. Swap in manual windows, mirrors, seats, A/C and clean out the wiring and you'll be close to the same weight and you won't have to start all over again. Just my 2 cents.

While you are at it remove one taillamp bulb from each side...

Seriously though I would not start over again either. Take Haystack's advice... If this is so important then I would go even further and rip all the seats out except the driver one, take out the headliner and also the carpeting. And don't forget to leave the spare tire at home! Hell u can save more weight by removing the bumper covers and taking off the bumper beams and put the bumper covers back on (at risk of collision protection of course)...

If you beat him,he'll tear his car apart and rebuild it then beat you......that's stupid.,especially if that is what you are basing your decisions on.I've spanked more than a few Stangs with the Sport.The weight difference isn't that much.For the cost of another car to start on,you could add some decent power to what you have.Put the money into the engine,gears,and suspension (including brakes),and go have fun.Also,start hanging out with people who know what they're talking about.This guy you are mentioning has no clue.I haven't removed anything for weight savings,and the Sport still does some serious Stang beating.I'm even adding a second power seat for the passenger side.You don't have to have a gutted car to run quick,and again,let your "friend' talk. Who cares? It's talk.

Really, do you buy and work on cars to please yourself, or others? Personally, I'd find it a source of pride that my buddy had to tear his car apart and rebuild it to get by me...

I agree with Thunder Chicken....if my buddy has to rebuild to beat the Sport.I did good.

Lol woah guys I didn't mean that's why I wanna get a lighter car because he'd rebuild his. I wanna lighter car because I want a lighter car... Lol no matter what if he rebuilds it'll be faster. Therefore I can't compete, but lighter has always been more fun, why not have a stang and my bird? Lol I didn't mean I want lighter to outrun him I want lighter basically why anyone would, more speed. And btw if I had cars to please others I wouldn't have my bird in the first place, a year of granny car and girlfriends not liking them has taught me to ignore most opinions.

You need a better choice in women then. Most "chick" I dated in high school like my old 86 more then I did.

I was going to say the same thing about my 87, but now I'm 44 and I'm not sure what it will attract. lol

No lie, almost everytime I take the Sport out after washing and waxing,some one,mostly chicks,say they REALLY like the car."That's pretty....what is it?"...."I love that color"....."Is it fast".....One day Alex (my son) and I were stopped at a red light and a whole Tahoe full of girls were fawning over the car. The Sport did good for herself.

Mustangs are much lighter, especially the coupe, but they also feel cheap. Once you drive a T-bird or Cougar you just will not be happy with a Mustang (unless it's a 2011). You can lighten up a T-bird or a Cougar but it will always be about 500 pounds more than a Mustang.

The other problem with a Mustang is that when you go to the track everyone has one and most of them will be faster than you. They will be also faster than your Mustang or Cougar but at least you will look good.

With the T-bird I'm usually the only one at the track and I kind of like this.

But it sounds like your friends Mustang is a heck of a buy, even if you just use it for parts.

The only attention mine will attract will be from guys driving four-doors with red and blue lights on the roof.

Which is ok, cause it means it's fast and loud and ugly....don't need any women fawning over the car (and sure not me) 2 kids and one woman are about as much as I can handle lol.

I had an 86 Stang coupe....rattled, shook, and didn't have a hell of a lot of room for more than one passenger. Like driving a tuna can with tires and a windshield. I'll keep my Bird I reckon...it's fast enough (for now).
