New guy and 88 t-bird sport(56k beware) July 04, 2010, 09:51:17 PM Hello people,,, been on here awhile but mainly reading. Bought my sone an 88 sport bird and just got done with HO conversion. The original ,motor had 187k mile on it and started to get a little knock inbottom end, so I freshend an extar 302 I had sitting around. And also had a few SD HO computers. Still need a serp belt and finish up the exhaust. ( converting to dual exhaust).Combo consist of, stock bottomed 302( rebuilt), ported E7's, FMS 1.6 roller rockers, Explorer intake, 65mm TB, stock mustang headers, off raod x-pipe, and will be installing 2.5 Dynomax lers. Also have waiting to be installed is a 8.8 from an 87 Turbo bird with 3.73's. My question is what do you guys do for tail pipes? Where does the mustang pipe have to be modified to make them fit? here are couple pics of car... Quote Selected

Ive been building Mustang for years(since 93), and this car is pretty cool and have to restrain myself, from going mod crazy. Specially since I bought this car for my son. he gets his lisence this month and really doesnt neet a hot-rod to start. As he get drive time, under his belt, we will start little mods together, and I can pass the torch on to him. Quote Selected

New guy and 88 t-bird sport(56k beware) Reply #7 – July 05, 2010, 09:45:45 PM Yes. I would love to see the interior shots too. Nice car. Very clean on the exterior. TC wheels look good too.My exhaust I did a flowmaster aluminized Mustang tail pipes with 18"x 3" tips. Make sure you do not go any less than the 16" tips or you will not have the length to reach the bumper cover. I also used mustang exhaust hangers on the frame and bolted into the stock location where the tbird ones are in the rear. One hanger had to be slightly modified. Then I cut off the hangers on the new tailpipes to relocate them where I needed too and welded them in. I am a finiky guy, so I spend close to half a day doing my complete exhaust at work on a hoist. I had to extend the flow tube about 3-4 inches and pushed the magnaflow lers flush with the thunderbird ler hanger. The best parts was I used torqtite clamps on my exhaust for easy assembly and adjustments. Quote Selected

New guy and 88 t-bird sport(56k beware) Reply #9 – July 06, 2010, 12:25:05 AM Will get some interior shot up soon... Got new motor in and fired it up open X-piped and she ran fine.. Well today mocked up some lers so I could test drive and now she is acting crazy. It will crank, but REV and then die. And if I turn key,, in run psoition, can hear a relay clicking every few seconds and fuel pump kicks on liek when key os turned for 1st time. When doing the HO swap I did swap injector hanress for a mustang harness, and also swapped 02 Harness, since t-bird wasnt long enough with 02's moved to X-pipe.. Going to swap out the injector harness for the bird one and see if that is what is making it act CooCoo... Quote Selected
New guy and 88 t-bird sport(56k beware) Reply #10 – July 06, 2010, 01:28:11 AM Unplug to 02's just to make sure it will run. Injector harness should be the same. O2's could be different. Try running codes. If you do run codes, do it before you unplug the 02's. Quote Selected

We are going to d a few intieror mods,a s well, already installed the SVO steering wheel, and will be adding 86GT Halo's to the seats.. When I 1st got the car for him, installed a new CD player w/Ipod hook up and added some subs for him. New guy and 88 t-bird sport(56k beware) Reply #14 – July 06, 2010, 09:31:06 PM Tell ya guys, if it isnt one thing its another. Turned out to be the 02 harness not being wired the same. so I lengthened the stock 02 harness.. Got it running and now she has a skip. Pulled plug wires on cap to find what cylinder(s), and it turns out #2 & #7 are the problem cylinders. Has new cap, wires, rotor, and plugs and she is getting firs at cylinders. Gonna pull upper and check injetcors.. Anyway here are some interior shots.. Its little dirty in pics, and still have to swap halo's on to seats. Quote Selected
