Since the 5.0 and 3.8 use the same bell housing pattern couldn't you use say a T56 that has a 5.0 bell housing?

But what good is a $150 m5r2 that generally won't really work with your car anyway? I'm not saying it can't be done/you can't do it, but when you think of the extent of  all that would have to be done to make it fit, along with the headaches that will come with ever having to repair it, you gotta ask yourself "Is it worth it?"

Forget the SC 5spd idea.  The amount of work kinda makes it impractical.  There are TONS of SN-95 V6 stangs with 5spds in the U-pull its.  Those T-5's are actually a good trans strengthwise.  Keep in mind that with any T-5 flat shifting is your enemy.  Right now im putting approx 400rwhp through my T-5.  There is nothing special done to it other than being a T-5z.  I use the clutch pedal when I shift.  The trans has taken regular abuse at the local racetrack for a year now with no ill effects.

The one I just found the other day is the first one I've seen in 2 years at 4 different yards. And this dude wants $450 for it.

I agree. My T-5 takes everything my engine gives it,and have had no issues. I'm sure the Sport is putting out a little more than the 3.8 does, and I think a T-5 will make you happier in the long run.The other tranny may be a good deal to buy (if it's a truly good tranny) and flip it for a profit and buy the T-5 pieces you would need.

The V-6 T-5 parts are out there and plentiful. Ebay, the Corral, you just have to put in a little leg work, and be patient.

Off the top of my head there are 6 or 7 of them sitting complete in U-Pull it yards local to me.  The price on a 5spd is $75 and if you dont want to get dirty they'll yank it out for you for $35 more

The sc tranny's are garbage. I doubt one would last for any length of time behind any kind of real power. There the same tranny's used behind the 5.0 trucks, and those go out all the time.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.
