The little things involved with painting/restoring...

For example, the $100 Shipped for 4 pieces of dew wipe required.

And the $210 + Shipping for a couple pairs of new upper door weatherstripping from Steele, which is still cheaper than classiquecars.

Then for a RestoMod like mine, there's the price of the fiberglass hood and all the prep required before paint.

Not to mention I have to pick out new side molds, I just don't think I would be happy without them.

You know, this thing might actually get paint this year...

Anyway, just had a "wow" moment there, excuse the interruption.

Hey it's okay to have your "WOW" moment. I had one after completeting the Mustang dash swap and getting all the parts and trim painted. Also after working on installing the Mark VII floor shifter and spending time under the car I feel pretty good that my Bird will see the day it will have a completed restore. When you actually get to see everything underneath and realize the underbody is in great shape the restoration doesn't seem as overwhelming as I once thought. So, priority will now immediately go to engine, brakes, exhaust and suspension while the other things will be worked on along the way. I wanna see new paint one day soon.

I have not given too much thought to what I am going to do with bodyside moldings yet. I am going to wait for the day it gets paint then think about it. However I do need to also prioritize door window moldings and dew wipes as mine are completely disinigrated.

Well, paint will probably happen within the next few weeks, so everything is "right now", so to speak. Tomorrow I will call the fiberglass company and order the hood, and I'll probably wait a week or so on the moldings/weatherstripping.

Right now I feel like there is a ton of stuff to handle, even though there isn't, it's probably the cost of it all, and I'll probably be biting my nails the entire time this is all getting done. The good news is that he doesn't mind if I swing by, help, watch whatever...

P.S. Daminc, your project was so huge that it doesn't compare to anything else, you can have as long as you want for that "wow" moment... :D

I know he has ressurected the dead so to speak. I am so lucky I do not have any serious rust issues to speak of, so yeah Daminc is quite a trooper to tackle what he has done. Beautiful work!

Thanks guys, I think we all get that wow moment when we do anything to our cars.

jrad235, what moulding are you using for your car? I was looking there at the 7/16 chrome strips for my 87..... And my 85 also needs some side mouldings too

I would like to find one that has some kind of strip down it, to mostly match the bumpers, I need to go measure what's on the car now though :D  I am thinking of blacking out all the trim, so it might be nice to have at least one line of chrome or something around it.
