ASC Mclaren Capri I found in jy today

While prepping for half off day this weekend at the Ecology wreckers in Bloomington, Ca. I ran across a car I have never seen before. An red ASC Mclaren Capri. I know its not a tbird or Cougar, but it sure would make a cool project. It looks light and is in pretty good shape too. A two seater convertible Capri has to be rare. So sad to see it in the staging area. with half off tomorrow, there will be vultures just smashing stuff for for the heck of it. Anyway how rare is the car?

These days,those are really rare.I'd bet there's some money there if you grab the right parts.The guys on 4 eyed pride would freak.

I dont have the room, or the dough, so hopefully you guys can put the word out so that the vultures dont rape and pillage this car.

Maybe you could "Learn Them" on what they have in the staging yard~Just as a last try effort of saving the car from destruction.

You would think they would be more interested in an easy sale of the whole vehicle, Rather than having to deal with parting it anyway + they might make more money.

Seriously, once its in the staging area, its toast. Plus if you show any interest at that point, they make the price ridiculous. They realy dont care because they will either make the money in s metal or on stuff the vultures yank. Only someone who loves this particular car will put out the dough to save it.

I don't know much about them(never liked verts), but some years are seriously rare... If you believe everything you read on the net, there were only 50 produced in '84... http://www.ascmclaren.com/carsforsale.htm

They are incredibly rare. Total asc/McLaren convertible production was something like 3,000 cars. 5-speed cars are silly-rare.

I can't say I agree that it is worth some 4K, but it isn't exactly "just a used Capri" either. 

Production figures for asc/McLaren Capri Convertibles:

1984: 50
1985: 257
1986: 245

Post this on foureyedpride, I really don't want to see this crushed! Someone will definitely pick this up and take good care of it.

I briefly possessed an '86 ASC/McLaren coupe (hatchback) Capri...it was black and silver, one of 115. I didn't have the title, but about a year after it slipped away, I met the registered owner at the junkyard I became the head wrench at. He asked me if I wanted the title..it was heartbreaking to tell him I let the car go because I couldn't do anything with it.

He sold it to my friend, who in turn sold it to me.

Probably THE biggest regret I have.

It was missing a LOT of the unique parts, but the engine was strong.

Some cars are meant to keep...that one was mine.


If you can get the Capri...I'd do it. They are goded rare in ANY condition.
